What is the effect of changing the numbers of batteries in a circuit?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Before we can attempt an answer to that question, we'll need to agree on the

meaning of the fuzzy, slippery phrase "amount of electricity". I'm going to interpret

that phrase to mean the current through the circuit.

If the batteries are connected in series, then more batteries produce more current

through the circuit.

If the batteries are connected in parallel, then the number of them has no effect

on the magnitude of current through the circuit. But whatever the current is, more

batteries will cause it to flow in the circuit for a longer time, before they run down.

What tips can help preserve iPad battery life?

User Avatar

Asked by LoneWolfgp9309

Lithium Ion batteries can be viewed as a balloon that gradually gets smaller. You can blow it up and let it down all you want, but over time you lose capacity. You can damage a lithium cell by too rapid charging but Apple prevents that. Mostly a lithium cell simply ages. If you keep your iPad in the freezer the cell probably would last longer, but I suspect you'd kill the screen. Best idea is replace the battery when it doesn't last long enough. Should be 3-5 years depending how much time you need.

How do you change battery in braun thermometer 6024?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The clipses are on the sides facing outside. Insert a small screwdriver on one side, and pull the cap.

Carefully, but firmly, insert a fine tip screwdriver between the bottom cap and the body of the thermometer (on the side that has the on/off button). Do not ever use a knife or cutting edge tool instead of the screwdriver. Once inserted (less than 0.5mm deep) the screwdriver should have unlocked the cap. Even so, you will have to firmly grip and pull the cap with your finger tips.

How do you change battery in braun 5742?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Braun 5742 disassembly:

1. Remove the cutter screen.

2. Remove the cutters.

3. Use a #8 Torx screwdriver to remove the two screws on the cutter frame. Lowes hardware sells a really cheap Kobalt brand Torx screwdriver with multiple Torx bits. Note that there are small O-rings (orange colored on my shaver) around each screw which you are removing now, around other screws which you will remove later, plus O-rings around the metal power jack posts. Pay attention and do not lose these O-rings. If you do lose one and can't find it, use a small dab of contact cement when reassembling your shaver in order to achieve the same watertight seal where the missing O-ring would be.

4. With the sideburn trimmer retracted, pull on the entire cutter assembly. It helps to pull somewhat more on the side of the cutter frame adjacent to the sideburn trimmer assembly, or at least pull that side of the cutter frame assembly slightly loose first by about one eighth of an inch. It may take some tugging to pull the cutter frame off of the shaver body since Braun uses some sort of silicone based sealant compound to assure that the razor is watertight. Then simply pull off the entire cutter frame.

5. Clean the gasket areas of the cutter frame and shaver body with Q-tips and isopropyl alcohol so that these mating surfaces will be nice and clean when you later reassemble your shaver. A can of compressed air is also handy in order to assure that there is no lint remaining on these mating surfaces. And yes, put on your eyeglasses so that you can see what you are doing!

6. Insert a very small jewelers flat head screwdriver into one of the rubber plug covers over the hidden screws at the rear end of the shaver body and pop out the rubber cover. The screwdriver should be inserted along the side of the cover closest to the power jack. Alternatively you probably can use the straightened out end of a small paper clip instead of a jewelers screwdriver since the rubber plugs are purely cosmetic in function. Do the same for the other rubber plug.

7. Remove the two screws hidden under the rubber plugs.

8. Hold the shaver horizontal and use the eraser end of a pencil to push on one or more of the metal posts in the shaver's power jack. The guts of the entire razor will slide forward inside the shaver case towards the cutter end.

9. Grasp the cutter head end of the shaver guts and simply finish pulling the guts out of the shaver case.

10. Remove each NiCad battery by prying up on the end of the battery which is nearest the plug end of the shaver guts. The pin built into the end of the battery will unsnap and slide up through the channel of the shaver's battery terminal. Note that there is a small band of double-stick adhesive tape underneath the batteries. Roll the battery back and forth and use a jewelers screwdriver to pry the tape away from the battery. Then extract the battery. Do the same for the other battery. Use the jewelers screwdriver to reposition, if necessary, the double-stick tape back onto the frame of the shaver.

11. The NiCad batteries create a fair amount of oxidized film over a few years on the battery posts and on the battery terminals inside the shaver. This film prevents electricity from easily flowing between the battery posts and the terminals. An indication of this condition is that your razor never indicates that the batteries have fully charged. Clean the ends of the batteries by thoroughly wiping them with a cloth slightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol and then clean again with a dry portion of the cloth. Do the same, using Q-tips, for the battery terminals in the shaver frame.

12. If you have already bought replacement NiCad batteries, install them now. If you wish to test the original batteries in order to see if they will take a full charge now that you have cleaned off all oxidation, reinstall the batteries and press the shaver's power button. The shaver's charge light should glow red for several seconds. Then plug in the charger, wait an hour, and see if the charge light is blinking. A blinking light indicates that the shaver electronics have sensed that the batteries have reached a full charge.

Reassembly:

1. Reassembly is the reverse of the disassembly procedure above, but with one additional procedure which must be done before installing the cutter frame: After reinstalling the shaver guts and before installing the cutter frame, make sure that the sideburn trimmer is retracted. Then orient the small spinning brass post on the end of the shaver guts such that the brass post is furthest away from the sideburn trimmer. If the cutter frame does not easily snap onto the shaver body or does not seat fully, then the orientation of this brass post is the problem.

Can you replace a 6V 2.5 Ah battery with 4 AA 1.5 V batteries?

Lithium batteries can contain lithium, manganese, oxygen, chlorine, carbon and hydrogen. Other lithium batteries can contain lithium, iron, sulfur, carbon, and hydrogen. Numerous other combinations are also used in commercial lithium batteries

Other types of batteries include zinc oxide batteries, containing silver, zinc, oxygen and hydrogen

How do you rejuvenate battery acid in a battery?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Well you really cant just make sure that your acid doesnt all dry out inside of a battery if it all doesn then battery wont hold charge and if you top it off after its already dry it will have weak charge because it have done it too late, make sure to top off battery acid fluid when it doesnt touch the dips in plastic covers. Batterys will go bad no matter what i have a f550 here in a shop and had to chage out 2 of them because they were over 6 years old and even though fluid is topped off it still doesnt hold charge.

Check all your fluid levels every 1st and 15th of a month. Best way to keep your car in good shape.

Can a CR2032 replace a CR2430?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Might last a little less, but being 2mm thicker may provide better contact, and since it is a bit smaller, if the battery socket is just a slide in clamp, yes you can interchanged them. Not so from a 2430 to a 2032, that one is a no no.

How can you tell how much battery is left in a TI-84 calculator?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You can remove the batteries and test their voltages individually. Looking at the weakest one, 1.50 or more volts is good and will have a long life. 1.0 volts or less is almost dead. Sometimes you can tell the battery is weak by the contrast on the screen, but that's a matter of experience with that calculator.

What is BIOS battery?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The function of a bios battery is basically to reset your bios if something goes wrong and you corrupt it. Bios batteries usually contain a little bit of information on them. Therefore, when you remove a bios battery, it goes back to default settings.

**Note**

removing a bios battery is usually a last resort to reset your bios. There are several other ways to reset your bios such as a jumper cable or (included in some never motherboards,) a reset bios switch.

How do you change the battery in a smoke detector?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Smoke alarm batteries are easy to replace, once you find where they go. The design varies from brand to brand.

Usually, the battery is located on the side of the alarm, either in a "drawer" or a swinging compartment. There may be a small plastic latch holding it closed. Occasionally, it is necessary to remove the alarm from the wall or ceiling to find the battery compartment. This can be done by rotating the entire alarm counter-clockwise until it releases. The battery compartment is designed not to close if the battery is inserted incorrectly.

Many smoke alarms have an option to permanently screw the battery compartment closed. This is typically done in rental units to prevent tenants from removing the battery during a false alarm. In this case, the landlord is required by law to change the battery. If you are the landlord, consult the alarm documentation (which can be found online) for instructions on how to remove the locking screw.

Is it true that a dead battery bounces?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If by bounce you mean like a rubber ball bounces:

The bounce, or not is determined by the mechanical properties of the battery, and these doesn't change with the battery being charged or not.

Dead, or fully charged, a battery will behave just the same when dropped.
