Bedbugs

How do you arrange your bed if you are planning to sneak out of the house?

Don't sneak out.

Why?

Because you might be safe, but if a freak accident happened, or something bad happened, your parents wont know where you're at or how to make sure you're safe.

So if something bad happened, there's nothing to protect you.

But if you're going to do it anyway, make sure you have a cell phone on you at all times and make sure you know where to go and what to do if some dangerous happened.

What is wrong with a clothes dryer if it does not run?

Can you give more info about the problem? Is this a gas or electric dryer?

First of all it's a good idea to disconnect the power at the outlet, then remove the air exhaust hose and check it for blockages.

If the hose is not blocked, check if there is power at the outlet. If no indicator light shows there is power coming to the appliance, has the circuit breaker tripped in the main electricity service panel?

If the breaker is tripped (or a fuse has blown) it may be a fluke or it may indicate a larger problem. Turn the breaker back on (and/or replace the fuse with one exactly the same size and amperage rating) and see what happens.

If it's notpower to the outlet, you may need to crack that sucker open. (Remember to unplug it first) The easiest and most important thing to do after taking the cover off is to clean it. Chances are it is going to be full of lint. Get all the lint, dirt, and grime out of it.

Next do some simple tests:

  • Can you turn the drum by hand? If not, something may have seized. If not, remove the belt and try to turn the motor and the drum. The one that doesn't turn is the one that requires attention.
  • Are there any loose connections / wires? Any charring or scorching on the harnesses? Does everything electrical appear tight and secure?
  • Remove any tools from the unit. Plug it back in and turn it on. DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING INSIDE IT UNTIL YOU UNPLUG IT AGAIN! Does it try to do anything? Does the motor hum? Do the heating coils get hot? Does the timer motor run?

If you didn't find anything from the above steps, you will need to start tracing wires with a meter. The procedure for that is model dependent and beyond the scope of this FAQ. Best of luck.

As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed.

Before you do any work yourself,

on electrical circuits, equipment or appliances,

always use a test meter to ensure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.

IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOB

Im going to redecorate my room but my mom wont let me get a bed she wants me to get a sofa bed i dont want one what should i doo i really want a bed right now i have a bunk bed?

You should have a bed. I've never seen just a sofa in a bedroom. Maybe a bed and a loveseat sleeper sofa or chair sleeper. That way if you or your family have overnight guest they have a place to sleep. I'm not sure how old you are, but every child should have a bed in their room.

What are the effects might bedbugs have on people?

The effect of having bedbugs in your bed can be very different on different people. With some even with a severe bedbug infestation of their bed they may not observe any noticeable effect even though the bedbugs have had numerous meals off them while they are asleep. But with some other people having bedbugs in their bed can cause very bad skin rashes or conspicuous blisters which can be mistaken for scabies or shingles and be very painful. Most people are somewhere between these two extremes.

This variation is mainly because some people are allergic to the coagulant/anaesthetic chemical a bedbug injects into them before commencing its meal some are not. So while any person does not feel anything during the 5 minutes or so during the night while a bedbug is actually on them having its meal, and will very probably remain asleep, when the anaesthetic wears off it may then start to itch, perhaps maddeningly where the bedbug pierced their skin. This may cause an urge to scratch vigorously, either while still asleep or after waking, to try to obtain relief. In some extreme cases that may lead to skin poisoning particularly if they have dirty finger nails while scratching.

But with certain people, it can take many days after a bedbug has had a meal before the big very nasty looking red blisters appear with some people. There are other unpleasant effects caused to some people. Insomnia can be caused particularly if the person is aware his bed has a problem or other psychological damage to them. This can lead to many sleepless nights leading to fatigue, acute tiredness during the day perhaps causing him or her to make mistakes at work in the daytime or emotional problems like bad tempered outbursts.

Another effect of sleeping in an infested bed with a few people can be anaemia due to the bedbug's meal taking away oxygen carrying pigments from the human's bloodstream so leading to destruction of their red blood cells, and the consequences of that can be failure of normal maturation of their bone marrow and general feeling of weakness. But most victims of bedbugs, whether male or female, will not suffer these kind of effects and, as stated above, some never even realise they have bedbugs in their bed. Everybody is different.

What are the worst things to do when trying to figure out how to get rid of bedbugs?

Finding out they actually spread if you move couches, sofas or other furniture. To keep my bed bed bug free, I threw away my wooden headboard. Though I loved the way it looked, I had found many eggs there and the thought of keeping it stressed me out. Instead, I bought a cheap metal frame. Bed bugs don't like to live in metal. I moved the bed a foot from the wall on all sides so no bed bugs could crawl up the wall into the bed. I placed each foot of the bed frame in special bed bug traps. You can make traps yourself by pouring mineral oil in a small container and sticking the foot of each bed in the container. You could also coat the leg of each bed in double-sided carpet tape. This way you can see if any bugs are trying to get to you.
