Does Empire Theatres in Dartmouth Crossing Dartmouth NS have bedbugs?
Back in the beginning of Novenber i was at home all day didn't go anywhere except from home to my car to the theatre to watch a movie with my son. When i left there i went right to my car to home no stops along the way. When we got home both my son and i had rashes all over. We called the theatre to mention it they said to me sometimes a change in laundry soap or things like that could be the reaction. I informed him that i am a person with sensitive skin and have some allergies to things and i know when my soap bothers me and that this was directly after i had left his theatre. He informed me there had been no known cases or even a change in shampooing the seats or spraying the theatre. He said he had a meeting that week and would get back to me after he brings it up. He never did get back to me. Ever since i have had a few cases of waking up with itchy bumps. I tried to think it was just alergies to something even tried to get into the doctor while i had them but they dissapeared by then. Although i did mention it to him. Here i am now 3 months later and i come across a bug on my bed lastnight. Luckily i caught it and have it in a jar to make sure someone knows what it is but needless to say i am having an exterminator com in today to do something . No bed bugs at Dartmouth theatre they say. Well i think differently.

Are the chemicals bed bugs inject into you causing diseases?
It really depends what you mean by "disease" but basically everybody is different on this. The chemical a bedbug injects into you (usually when it feeds off your blood while you are fast asleep in your bed at night) consists basically of an anaesthetic to prevent you feeling the insect's presence on your skin or feel the sharp piercing of your skin to extract your blood and an anticoagulant to stop the blood coming out of you too fast for the 5 minutes or so while the bedbug's stomach is being filled with your blood.
So when you say "disease", the point really is the chemicals affect different people in different ways. While bedbug bites do not generally cause any serious disease (like mosquito bites can cause malaria), being bitten by bedbugs do cause considerable irritation to some people. Some individuals get itchy blisters or welts or red blotches on their skin. That is usually because the individual is allergic to one or more of the components in the chemical that the bedbugs have injected into them.
The marks on the skin which may be on your arms, back, shoulders, legs and/or face take different forms on different people. With some the marks may appear on the person's skin within an hour or two usually but not always accompanied by intense itching, or in some cases a day or sometimes not for several days after the bedbug has completed its meal. Others bitten by bedbugs seem to suffer no such effects, and in some cases may get bitten night after night by bedbugs who live in their bedroom without ever realising what is happening to them. Some people suffer no unpleasant effects whatsoever from having bedbugs in their bed.
BUT with others a long term effect of being the victim of a major bedbug infestation in their bed, and having their blood extracted night after night can in extreme cases be be anaemia. This can cause a reduced level of the oxygen carrying pigment haemoglobin in your bloodstream. That can lead to a deficiency of B12 or another vitamin, folic acid. That in extreme cases can cause you to be habitually tired, frequent headaches, a sore mouth and tongue, weight loss and/or jaundice!, and in some cases the problem might possibly be the victim just does not realise why.
How long does it take for Diatomaceous earth to kill bed bugs?
According to one report between 4 to 10 days, the majority dying off at around 4 days.
First of all, who caused the bedbugs? Unless you just moved in, or live in an apartment building, it will be assumed that you brought in the bedbugs. Even in an apartment, if no one else is having bedbug problems, and you are not a new tenant, the bedbugs are presumed to be your fault. Therefore, the landlord has no duty to exterminate them, though he may do so and demand that you pay the cost.
If you did not bring in the bedbugs, talk to a lawyer, as the landlord may be violating the implied warranty of habitability.

Bedbugs are generally active only at dawn, with a peak feeding period about an hour before sunrise.

Bedbugs can lay up to five eggs in a day and 500 during a lifetime. The eggs are visible to the eye measuring 1 mm in length (approx. two grains of salt) and are a milky-white tone. The eggs hatch in one to two weeks. The hatchlings begin feeding immediately. They pass through five molting stages before they reach maturity. They must feed once during each of these stages.
