In the epic, Beowulf's good-guy status increases because he defeats a monster, Grendel, who had been killing a King's men because he was unhappy. Also, Beowulf killed Grendel's mother after the mother avenged the death of her son by killing the best friend of the King who's men had been killed and by retrieving the arm of Grendel that Beowulf had hung from rafters after tearing it off in the battle with Grendel. Lastly, Beowulf fought a dragon because it terrorized his people when he was king of Geatland. All of his fights increase his prominent good guy status. He's a natural hero and that is what people wanted.

Grendel descended from Cain (considered evil because he was the first one to murder someone: his brother). There's not a specific region as to where Grendel lives, but according to the epic poem, we know that Grendel lives somewhere in a lair in Denmark.

Yes, the dragon is a nihilist because he believes that there is not free will in life and we are all fighting a lost cause by trying hard in life. We all die in the end so why work hard for anything is his philosophy.

The Geats are confident in Beowulf's skills and leadership, hence why none of them show any regret or doubt about his decision to face this formidable opponent.

Its hard to understand due to the age of the work. It was an entirely different world, and it is hard for people to relate the work to today. People today don't go off and kill Dragons to show how heroic they are, nor do they go ahead and save a King and his people from a terrible beast and its mother.

Wiglaf has likely gained battle experience by fighting alongside Beowulf and other warriors in previous battles. As a loyal thane of Beowulf, Wiglaf would have been part of Beowulf's retinue and participated in wars and raids against other tribes and enemies. This experience would have contributed to his skill and bravery in combat.

A great man has died. His deeds will not go unnoticed. His values will never be forgotten.

For this man was a warrior. A great on at that.

He helped those in need, Not just for fame. The proof is in the deeds he did.

For when out of the darkness, When Grendel did hunt, With the pain and suffering He had brought to them all.

Beowulf came, And killed the murderous monster.

And then Grendel's mother, The mighty demon mother, Had come for revenge.

But, Beowulf was there, And he killed her too.

Oh what celebrations were held in his honor! The treasure he had received was glorious, And so were the treasures he did give.

He was a brave warrior. A generous soul, That cared for others.

And when the mighty dragon Burned the land, Beowulf, the mighty king, Set out to slay the beast of fire himself.

Though he was old, He was still a warrior. He fought his final battle, And won.

So he went to heaven, Proud, Like a warrior should.
