Your question is vague, so the only crisis dealing with Berlin that I can think of would be the Berlin airlift. If this is the case JFK was not in office in 1949. He wasn't elected president until 1960. If you mean the Cuban crisis that is a different story.

Checkpoint charlie - was a crossing-point from east Germany to west Germany in the berlin wall. Since the demolition of the wall, the original checkpoint booth has been moved to a museum.

They didn't have much of a choice: The government decided to end travel restrictions, and with the end of those restrictions the Berlin Wall became to the East Germans as much an atrocity as it was for us in the West.

1st:- It causes only harm to whosoever involved in such tactics. If such a cold war was not in place then there would have been no taliban now and no 9/11 and no hatred against Islam etc. no radical Islam would have been used by any one and there would have been much more peace as of now.

2nd.:- It causes a huge drain to the society. If the amount of money and resources put into cold war either for syping, intelligence, bribing, manufacturing arms and ammunition and supporting proxies was to be invested into eduction and healthcare there will be much more educated people and living standards would have been high and poverty diminished.

3rd.:- Much time of the next generations would have been saved as if there was no cold war then I wud have used this time in some other constructive activity as there would have been no need for me to utilize my time in writing this post.. ;)
