What happend to the Berlin wall?

It was one of the greatest human tragedies in the last 40 years since the end of the war. Families were separated from each other and East Germans who had worked in West Berlin, could no longer work there and had to find employment in the east which was very difficult. The Communists were discredited by most of the people-east and west. Berliners, who had endured so much suffering during the war, with the constant air raids and intense fighting and atrocities committed, did not deserve this inhumane treatment. Many elderly Berliners actually committed suicide as the wall became a common sight over time. Many gave up hope of ever seeing their loved ones and put an end to their lives. West Berlin flourished under Willy Brandt, the major, and subsequent leaders in the 1960's, 70's, and 80's. Even though East Berlin was heralded as the "Paris of the East" by the Communists, it was much drearier than the prosperous West Berlin. I have been to both sides of the Wall in the 1970's and 80's-the difference was unbelievable!!!

What are the 3 significant lessons learned from the cold war?

1st:- It causes only harm to whosoever involved in such tactics. If such a cold war was not in place then there would have been no taliban now and no 9/11 and no hatred against Islam etc. no radical Islam would have been used by any one and there would have been much more peace as of now.

2nd.:- It causes a huge drain to the society. If the amount of money and resources put into cold war either for syping, intelligence, bribing, manufacturing arms and ammunition and supporting proxies was to be invested into eduction and healthcare there will be much more educated people and living standards would have been high and poverty diminished.

3rd.:- Much time of the next generations would have been saved as if there was no cold war then I wud have used this time in some other constructive activity as there would have been no need for me to utilize my time in writing this post.. ;)
