The opening of the Berlin Wall signified the closing of the Cold War.

The imaginary wall between the U.S. anad Russia.

He and the Soviet Union built the wall to keep East Germans from leaving. There many more opportunities and better living in West Germany than in East Germany. If they didn't build the wall basically they would have nobody living in East Germany.

Speaking in front of the Berlin Wall at the Brandenburg Gate on June 12, 1987, Ronald Reagan called on Soviet leader Gorbachev: "Mr Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr Gorbachev, Tear down this wall!"

They couldn't get to work anymore because the wall didnt allow people from the east to commute to the west. They had to find a new job in the east.

After World War 2, Russia, The United States, England, and France, each took control over a section of Berlin. Russia however had the surrounding countryside. Russia closed the roads leading to Berlin. The people in Berlin could not get food. Russia was going to make them starve. At that point President Harry Truman began the Berlin Airlift. He supplied food to the people of Berlin by air.

I don't think they ever had a talk about it. It came down in 89 because of internal Russian problems. Reagan had nothing to do with it.

Well what your asking is an opinion, so that means few people might have liked it, while others might not have. But most did not like it.

It was built by the communist leaders to keep their people IN and the free word OUT.

The Berlin wall was deconstructed on November 9, 1989. It opened in 1961. The wall completely cut off West Berlin from East Berlin and East Germany.

Besides part of the Berlin Wall? There's always construction and demolition going on in Berlin.

I am from Germany... so that is not a hard question for me... it was the 10th of November 1989.

Ronald Regan was President. And he was much more than just the President at the time. His very clear understand of Communism started when he was still an actor. By the time he came into office, his had figured out how to hasten a weakening Communist structure and bring down the Soviet Union. And that is what he did, although liberals don't like giving him any credit for his role in the fall of the Berlin Wall.

No it was an actuall wall.

It was built (or rather, started) on 13 August 1961. Construction of the Berlin Wall started on 13 August 1961. It separated East and West Berlin and plugged the last 'gap' in the Iron Curtain which divided Europe into two blocs. It remained in place till 9 November 1989. == ==

Since both superpowers had a nuclear weapon they knew that when one country will attack the other, both atomic bombs would be fired and most of the world would be destroyed. They didn't want that.....

No. The wall came down in late 1989 while the first George Bush was president, but a lot of what lead to the breakdown of the wall was work done by Ronald Reagan.

Actually...nothing. On 9 November the East German Border Command opened all the crossings - there were a LOT of them - between West Berlin and East Germany. They started tearing it down a few days later.

The Berlin Wall was knocked down because it joined both parts of Germany. East Germany and West Germany became one country after that.
