No not necessarily, I have a betta fish and it lives without a filter and its been 1 or 2 months now. A Beta fish can live without a filter because of a labyrinth in it's lungs that allows it to breath surface air. However a heater is required to maintain the water temperature at between 75-80 degrees, betas can live without it, but they don't live as long. A heater will maintain a healthy Beta better than a filter. But if you have an aquarium with other fish. You need a filter for the other fish.

Nocturnal fish are sutible with Oscars(ghost knife, pleco).

Larger fish are suitable (your Oscar will reach around 30cm so larger than that)

When introducing a new fish to an Oscar tank, rearrange the tank and do a large waterchange. this stops the Oscar attempting to protect its territory.

if the Oscar is much larger than say, the new Oscar or JD, remove the larger- rearrange tank- put new fish in for 2 days in with a blanket over tank then put big Oscar back in with covering on for a further 2 days. if this doesnt work it is likely you will need to grow the smaller Oscar out to a larger size first.

No more than 1 Oscar (exception a pair) req a 6x2x2 tank.

Betta fishes like any other fish can get stressed by movements. In fact one of the most stressful experiences for a fish is travel from the pet store to a new house. So, depending on the length of the travel, yes, you might be able to take your betta fish. If its a short travel, make sure you double bag and bag again with a bubble wrap and cover it with something dark (so the fish doesn't get stressed by the outside). I don't recommend taking the betta on long distance or on flights.

Yes!!They can!! If you read about them they do like to have bigger cages!!I have mine in a 1 and half gallon bowl and he LOVES it!! Just make sure that you have a aquarium thermometer in the aquarium and make sure the water is about 70-80+ F..

Your best option would be to set up a freshwater tank because most saltwater fish require larger tanks than ten gallons.

First, you would need a power filter to filter your tank.

Second, you would need an air pump and a bubble wall to oxygenate your water.

Third, you would have to cycle your tank. This means growing bacteria that eliminate ammonia in your aquarium. To do this, add 1 hardy fish for every seven gallons of water in your tank. Danios work well for this. After 6-8 weeks, you can add more fish. Be sure not to add too many fish at a time.

Step 1: DO NOT have the male betta and female betta in a tank of bowl together! Step 2: The female will give birth and when she does DO NOT keep her in with the babies. Imediatly take her out and put the male in with the babies. If you leave the female with the babies she will eat them :( i know it's horrible. Step 3: Over time the babies will grow and to keep then healthy you need to start off by feeding them dried bloodworms. After they meet their adult stage you may sart feeding them regulat betta pellets. Step 4: Have fun with them and hope everything goes well!!

I assume by "fish food" you mean standard flake fish food. Bettas are carnivores, so you can feed them many of the commonly available frozen fish foods (bloodworms, plankton, krill, tubifex worms, etc). You can also try tiny bits of raw shrimp from the grocery store and/or worms from the garden/yard. Give the fish a chance to check out and eat the new food, but be sure to remove anything the fish does not eat in about five minutes.

The swordtail I'm thinking of is a member of the livebreeding family Poecilidae which also includes guppies, mollies and platies. The easiest way to tell is by the shape of the anal fin. These fish produce live young. They practise internal fertilisation, and the male puts his sperm inside the female by use of a penis-like organ known as a gonopodium. This is next to the vent, just behind the pectoral fins. It looks like they have spawned and you have failed in your responsibility to remove the female before the male killed her. Remove her now before she goes rotten and completely putrefies the water and the male dies too. You will also need to do a couple of large water changes.
