What are the bad effect of using contraceptives?

Well, for one you won't have children. Obviously. I wouldn't say that is a disadvantage, but then again, who would want children if they're using contraceptives. Quite frankly, the disadvantages depend upon what type of contraceptive being used.

What happens if you take extra birth control pills?

You should never double or triple or quadruple the daily dose of birth control pills. Here are reasons why it is not advisable unless your doctor instructs you to 'double up' for a day:

Birth control pills contain hormones. Hormones must maintain a "steady state" in your body to work effectively. Steady state means no rapid ups or downs of med dosage. Taking more birth control pills on one day will NOT give you any additional protection against pregnancy. Taking more on ONE day means you skip on other days---so again, you lose your protection. BC Pills are NOT aspirins or a pill to take "when needed" (and even aspirins won't work right unless you take meds right). Just like all other drugs, you can have bad side effects to high doses of hormones, except hormones can cause things like extra hair growth, completely screwed up menstrual cycles, etc. Hormones act on other hormones. Hormones "like friends" so 2 hormones "work together" cooperatively in the body. But, hormones also react against each other, not exactly "enemies", but when 1 hormone is high, the other hormone drops. You must always remember any hormone affects other hormones and hormonal glands in your body. If you mess with the BC dose over and over, your body won't 'know' whether 'now' is okay to release an egg or not... So your body could sneak in a surprise pregnancy simply because you did not follow the exact instructions. Doctors might tell you to 'double up' on one day, but usually this is to treat another problem, like break-thru bleeding. But I repeat, never double or triple the dose unless your doctor instructed you to do that. When you run out too soon in the month because you used too many, too quickly, be prepared for a lecture from your doctor.

Can you become pregnant while taking the birth control pill?

Nothing is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy aside from abstinence and radical surgery.

Used pretty much right, birth control methods (apart from surgery) are rated at about 98-99+% effective.

It's to the point where failures(=pregnancies) are difficult to investigate fully.

Maybe a condom was nicked by a sharp nail or jewelry, maybe a stomach upset caused someone to lose the pill before it'd been absorbed by the body, Etc Etc.

Can birth control delay your period?

Yes because when you miss birth control pills it messed up your cycle and your period may be late and you might even experience spotting or breakthrough bleeding. When you miss more than 2 birth control pills it is best to use a back up method such as condoms until you have finished the pack of pills. If you have unprotected intercourse when you missed pills, you may become pregnant.

Is it hard to get pregnant coming off birth control?

If you take them properly, they are pretty effective. But you should know that

Birth control pills can be ineffective if you:

# do not take the pill at the pill at the same time every night # use anti-biotics while on birth control # take other medications (including some natural supplements/vitamins) that have not been approved with your doctor while on birth control # miss a pill # are not on the pill for 30 days before having "unprotected" sex # are not on the pill for 30 days before having "unprotected" sex after switching brands of birth control * Intrauterine birth controls such as the Nuva Ring, and other IUD's can slip out of place * Condoms can break and semen can leak though. It is important not to use two condoms at once because the extra friction between the two condoms can cause them to rip.

Can doctors tell if there's marijuana in your system when you take a pregnancy test to get birth control?

No, you have to be specifically tested for the presence of THC. However, if you think you're pregnant, STOP putting anything in your body you wouldn't feed directly to a child.

    • A simple blood test no. There are HUNDREDS of substances to check for, and unless there is a reason, a Dr. can't test for everything. A couple notes: If you are involved with any Child Protection Agency because of substance abuse, they will check. If you have a car accident, are the driver, and you are rolled into the E.R., the first thing they do is a drug screen: opiates, cannibas (pot), cocaine, alcohol, all the benzodiazapines (Valium, xanax etc..)

But for a normal average person going for a pregnancy test, that's all they check for.

Will you become pregnant if you take the pill for four days?

The period is the time of expulsion of the unused egg. The body then waits for the next ovulation, which is usually 10-14 days after the end of the period. Therefore, it is very unlikely to get pregnant 4 days after one's last period. However, it is still possible.

What is the Best birth control for no weight gain?

The answer is not so simple because every woman's organism reacts differently to every type of pill. However there is a general agreement that pills with lower estrogen dosis tend to have fewer side effects.

Having concerns on what side-effects she might suffer from taking birth control pills the doctor recommended Minesse (Produced by Wyeth laboratories in Ireland) to my girlfriend as it is the lowest dosage double pill (not to be confused with a mini pill) on the market. So far the results are mora than satisfactory because she hasn't has any negative side-effects whatsoever. However as I said earlier each case is different.

I would also would like to remember you that birth control pills do not protect you against STDs so you should always aditionally wear a condom to protect you from them. An added bonus of doing this is that the effectiveness of double contraception is phenomenal (99.9997% Effectiveness in perfect use).

Yes, it's normal for your menstrual cycle to be irregular once you come off hormonal birth control.

While on hormonal birth control your menstrual cycles are suppressed in order to stop ovulation occurring, once you come off hormonal birth control it takes time for your body to start ovulating on a regular basis again. Your cycle may continue to be irregular for up to a year.

How do you deal with finding condoms in your moms room?

As hard as it is for children to accept, Moms are also regular people in addition to being Moms. As such, they do everything that other regular people do, including having sex. It's a good thing that they do, because otherwise you wouldn't be here to ask this question.

If your Mom wants to discuss her sex life with you, she'll bring it up; otherwise, don't mention it. It isn't something that you need to spend any time thinking or worrying about. Growing up is hard enough without spending time and energy on things that don't need attention.

Jehovah's Witnesses have no prohibition against the use of birth control. They would, however, object to a method of birth control that resulted in the destruction of an already fertilzed egg since they believe life begins at conception and that this would violate a respect for the sanctity of life.
If they so desire. The Awake magazine, printed by Jehovah's Witnesses, of 22nd February 1993 says

''Does the Bible condemn birth control? No, it does not. The choice is left with the couple. If a married couple decides to practice birth control, their choice of contraceptives is a personal matter. However, the method of birth control a Christian couple chooses should be governed by a respect for the sanctity of life. Since the Bible indicates that a person's life begins at conception, Christians would avoid contraceptive methods that abort, or end the life of, the developing child.''
