No. The breed referred to as just the "Collie" is a very different breed than the Border Collie. In fact, the Collie is usually called a Rough Collie or Smooth Collie, based on whether it has long or short hair.

There are other breeds with Collie in the name, such as Bearded Collies, Farm Collies, Scotch Collies. Collie is a general herding type dog description.

you really shouldn't walk a puppy of any kind that long because it's bones aren't fully developed. You should walk a puppy for atleast 20 minutes.

WRONG!! you misread the question!

You shouldn't walk your puppy until it's had it's 3rd injection at 4 months old. Then when the vet says it's ok, you can take him out for walks two or three times a day. Always have water on hand, just in case. Bring some treats along, too. Keep the walks 10- 15 mins when first starting out, then you can extend then to 30 mins at about 8 months, then up to an hour *after* your puppy is one year old. Most people who take their dogs out for an hour walk before the puppy is old enough, they will get tiredand have to stop. If tha does happen when walking, give the dog some water.

I put a Garmin 201 GPS on my 1 year old Collies harness and recorded peaks of 24.7 knots - just over 28 miles per hour. A fully grown dog 18 months + and slightly larger would be capable of 30 - 35mph in short bursts. well blobs are very mystical things that will kill you instantly unless you know how to tame them. I am the most well known trainer i the world you will see me if you know about a passage that leads you to me, but I will not tell you my name. I also know another person who knows how to tame them, there are only three people in the world who can tame them 2 girls and 1 boy.

My Border Collie, and yes he is pure bred, weighed in at a svelte 95 pounds when I last took him to the vet. He was 4 at the time and in very athletic and toned condition. He has since slowed down at bit but his appetite has not waned. He now weighs 100 pounds, but has lost very little of the inherent quickness that the breed is known for. He is 7 and very healthy.

I've had 2 border collie crosses. Both have been very clever as pups.

My present collie cross was stopping at roads and waiting for the command to cross when she was only 4 months old. They also dont have the fixations that pure breds have.

They are generally not afraid of guns, if they trust the owner.

But fire the gun, away from the dog the first couple times, to get it used to the sound.

They will start by sniffing the ground, running back and forth in front of you, and yelp when they got game.

They will flush out the game, sometimes driving it to you, as they circle around in front.

Once you shot the prey, keep calling your dog to come, it should come with game in mouth.

If it does not come, go to the dead game, the dog will usually be excited even trying bit it.

It is important, to never let your cocker spaniel, eat on any animal as it is impossible to break the habit later.

Always praise your dog, for job well done, but I advice no treats while hunting.

In end it is you, that needs to learn how to hunt with a dog, as hunting comes natural to dogs.

last note, most cocker spaniels love water, and will retrieve floating prey, but they do get colder when wet.

Start at a young age when they are able to walk and see.You can use a goose or a baby lamb and maybe even a cat so they can herd and get them use to seeing their parents doing the job or not introduce them to sheep and not to be afraid.
