What is the area of mid brain responsible for consciousness and awake sleep cycle?
The reticular formation is a part of the brain that is involved in actions such as awaking/sleeping cycle, and filtering incoming stimuli to discriminate irrelevant background stimuli. It is essential for governing some of the basic functions of higher organisms, and is one of the phylogenetically oldest portions of the brain.
How much bigger is a man's brain than a woman's?
In 1861, Paul Broca examined 432 human brains and found that the brains of males had an average weight of 1325 grams, while the brains of females had an average weight of 1144 grams. A 1992 study of 6325 Army personnel found that men's brains had an average volume of 1442 cm³, while the women averaged 1332 cm³. (Ankney 1992). The differences are smaller but persist when adjusted for body size (Ankey, 1992). In 2005, Haier et al. reported that compared with men, women show more white matter and fewer gray matter areas related to intelligence. Using brain mapping, it was shown that men have more than six times the amount of gray matter related to general intelligence than women, and women have nearly ten times the amount of white matter related to intelligence than men. Gray matter is used for information processing, while white matter consists of the connections between processing centers. They also report that the brain areas correlated with IQ differ between the sexes. In short, men and women apparently achieve similar IQ results with different brain regions. Although women may have smaller brains than men, they appear to have greater neuron density in their prefrontal lobe, which is involved in planning, judgment, and language, although men still have higher absolute grey matter volume than women in their prefrontal lobe.
What are the functions of the human brain?
I think human brain is like as
1. hard disc of computer. And you shoud be know that what can do a hard disc and its functions.
2. Like as memory card in a mobile.
Brain is a one thing that tells you what is happning.
Note: it is truth.
not joke b'coz i m graduate,1&1/2 diploma in ica(computer from amb, una. Himachal pardesh) i have no brain in my body. Can you live with out the cerebellum?
Not currently. No areas of the brain are currently transplanted.
Lump on your right side of back halfway down?
Is your urine color dark yellow? If yes then i think it is due to the body's heat. Try to avoid spices, meat, chicken and any food that can increase your body heat. Consult your doctor because some lumps are cancerous.
What are not results of traumatic brain injury?
All of these would not result in a traumatic brain injury:
What is the function of the largest part of the brain?
The cerebellum is the second largest part of your brain. It coordinates muscle movement and controls balance. It also receives information from the spinal cord and other parts of the brain.
The second largest part of the brain is the cerebellum.
The cerebellum is the second largest area of the brain.
Can a person survive if they have got brain tumor?
Yes. If it has developed on the outside, doctors can use lasers to dissolve it. If it is on the Grey matter then, the operarion might result in short term memory problems.
Or having the person go 100% raw vegan may work
Cerebrospinal fluid occupies the spaces within the meninges?
The Subarachnoid Space between the Arachnoid and Pia layers of the CNS (Central Nervous System)
Why do we forget things - not just remember everything?
People forget because of a central nervous system the subjecgated by the conglomerous makes people forget about past events. This is why we forget our childhood for instince. This is all very simple.
BECAUSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE we forget cause sometimes we have to many things to remember in our brain
What is the brain surrounded by?
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is a clear, watery liquid that surrounds the brain.
Does your brain control your muscles?
Let's consider an analogy.
The Human body and the computer:
The brain can be compared to the CPU of a computer. The Skeletal muscular system would then be the equivalent of the key board.
The Skeletal muscular system is the one and only part of the human body that we can feel and control.
In a computer, does the key board controls the CPU or the CPU controls the key board? For the manufacturer, one controls the other. He has to improve both so that the interaction between the two becomes easier and more reliable.
However, according to the user it is the key board that controls the CPU. In fact, he need not even have to know that the computer has a CPU.
The brain can't be improved. We can only make the best use of what we have got.
What is 'I' anatomically?
What is the 'You' we are talking about? Lets consider its first person equivalent, 'I'. What is this 'I' anatomically?
All the skeletal muscles of the body can contract and relax isometrically as a single unit called Unified Skeletal Muscle, popularly known as the mind. This can contract voluntarily (under our control) or involuntarily (On its own). As default, the voluntary part is trapped between two layers of involuntary parts.
This voluntary part of the Unified Skeletal Muscle or Mind is what we call 'I'. The involuntary part is what we call Self.
What controls the brain?
Under normal conditions it is the 'I' that controls our entire life through the brain, the brain playing a very passive role. In fact, we need not even have to know that we have a brain to use the brain.

describe the common ailments affecting the nervous syste? Some of the most common ailments of the nervous system include Multiple Sclerosis and Epilepsy. Some others are Cerebrovascular accident and Transient Ischemic Attack.
What would happen if the cerebellum is injured?
The human brain is larger.
The positioning of the hind brain is different, due to the erect position of humans.
Convolutions are increased in humans (increases surface area).
The sheep's brain has a smaller cerebellum (lesser motor control/less complex learned motor behaviors).
There is a larger pineal gland in sheep (related to circadian rhythms/seasonal reproduction).
Is it possible to damage your brain from constantly cracking your neck?
NO!!!!!! unless you are a certified chiropractor. Answer
I have had a bad habit of cracking my neck and have been to my doctor as well as go to a chiropractor on a regular basis and I am going to tell you - NO DON'T DO IT!! I cannot stress that enough. When you are cracking your neck you are stopping it moving from the proper area it is suppose to move from and moving places that are not suppose to move which in turn cause damage. Cracking your neck can cause long term troubles such as arthritis, cause seizures when your cracking it, chronic headaches, dizziness, or even death.
An EEG is an electroencephalogram which is a device that measures brain activity. If there any problems in the brain they can be seen on an EEG. The brain produces electrical impulses and there are different patterns of impulses. It is this different patterns that are measured with and EEG that can show doctors what might be wrong.
What is the pleasure center in the brain?
Dopamine release in the nucleus accumbens is tied with pleasure and dopamine. All drug addiction targets this center of the brain.
How does a stroke affect the circulatory system?
By definition a stroke affects the brain by blocking small arteries that carry blood to the cells and deliver nutrients and oxygen. These become blocked and the cells that the artery is leading to, die. A similar thing happens when arteries to the heart muscle cells that are blocked causing a heart attack.
How does information travel from the brain to the fingers?
there are millions of little tiny people that live in your body and the guy in your brain is the president so if he says to move your fingers then the people in your fingers jump up and down to move them <^>
