The English horn is not a member of the brass family. It is a reed instrument pitched in F and is played by an oboist. Trombones, trumpets, tubas, and french horns are in the brass family because they are made of brass and played with a mouthpiece, not a reed.

To play a B on the French Horn, hold down the middle valve and blow. However, usually French Horn music features B flats, and in that case you would hold down the first valve and blow.

The only common thing between all brass instruments are that they are made of at least half brass and they all need a mouth piece. There is also the same breathing techniques, though they can differ. For example, the theory that everything that is played is a long tone.

Please note that I am not counting woodwind instruments, like saxophone, as brass instruments. If I did so there would be nothing in common with all brass instruments.

Yes, mainly trumpets and trombones, but tubas have been used rarely, and french horns even rarer. All big bands have trumpets and trombones though.

If it can be converted, it would include an alternate leadpipe, so that the mouthpiece would be positioned to play while seated.

It is best to start a child off on a string instrument. Stings are harder to play than brass instruments so, mastering a string early is the best bet.

String instruments produce sound from the vibration of strings. Brass instrument produce sound by the vibration of air though a mouthpiece created by the vibration of the player's lips (player's embouchure). A percussion instrument produces sound by being struck, scraped, or rubbed by the player's hand or against another instrument.

No not really, you buzz into the mouthpiece to create a sound. Blowing into a brass instrument like you would for a woodwind instrument that has a reed will not produce any sound.

This really depends, there are multiple b-flats for each instrument and you can play a low b-flat or a high b-flat. So the answer to the question is that it can be both, depending on which octave b-flat it is.

The trumpet is only a tuning and amplifier for what goes on at your lips.

To make a twenty year old trumpet sound better you have to apply quality sound to it.
