How hard is the french horn an a 1-10 scale?

It depends on how hard your 10 is rated. A horn is pretty hard because a lot of fingerings can be used to play a lot of notes that can be really close together. It requires a lot of training and lip muscle. It would probably be rated an 8 or 9.

What is French Horn bearing oil?

Bearing and Linkage oil is used for the metal rods that make the valves move.

Many horns used strings for this function and don't have any real bearings/linkages. They're on the outside of the horn, so it's easy to tell if you've got them or not.

If you have bearings/linkages and don't know how to oil them, there's some wonderful youtube videos that can help you out!! I know I needed them when I was first looking up how to oil my horn with the different oils.

I happen to have a horn that uses strings, but I still use bearing/linkage oil for the springs that make the valves spring back after they're pushed down. I'm not sure this is a good idea since I've noticed my springs beginning to tarnish after doing this, but it definitely makes the valves feel smoother.

A trumpet that plays naturally in the key of Eb. (It can be played in other keys, but the scores are basically musical workarounds.)

Can a tuba player be a trumpet player and visversa Isn't it hard. because i am a trumpet player but switching to Tuba?

Yes - on the plus side you don't need to learn new valvle combinations or how to make a sound on the instrument. However, you will find that there is a difference in your embechoure (to do with the mouthpiece on tuba being considerably bigger), you will have to blow harder to get the air moving in the tuba. Also, you may find that the tuba has a 4th valve, which is on the side adn played with the left hand (this is the same as playing 1 and 3, so for a low D you can just use 4th valve, and for a C# use 4th and 2nd). You will also have to learn bass clef. However, these are all things that are quick to learn, and with a grounding in trumpet you will probably find that you will be proficient on tuba in a much shorter length of time than it took to learn trumpet in the first place. Good luck and have fun!

Why do people use brass?

It has to do with instruments.

Brass is a sturdy, inexpensive metal - that can have several finishes, it is easily malleable, but also holds it shape well and holds up to the elements. Gold and silver are too soft and too expensive, to use for everyday functions, that brass holds up to well.

What and how many brass instruments are in the orchestra?

On the low end, there might be two horns and two trumpets. On the large end, there are four horns, three trumpets, three trombones (2 tenor, 1 bass), and a tuba. Some pieces, such as Mahler or Bruckner symphonies, use even more instruments than that.

Would it hurt the trumpet by chwing gum or hard cany whail playing the trumpet?

It could cause sugar to get deposited inside the tubing (i.e. the value 3 slide) especially the valves. This causes friction and stops the valve moving smoothly event ually sticking - This advice is the same for all the brass family
