You really shouldn't make your best friend stop liking someone unless that person's a bad influence on her/him. If they ARE a bad influence, just explain to your friend that he/she is not right for him/her. Make sure she/he knows how you feel about this.

Help her with something, do something generous for her, buy her something she wants, fix her car, entertain her by taking her somewhere nice to talk things over (of course you will both know that "talking things over" is just an excuse to date as well, and it probably won't happen, but its a good enough excuse). Try accepting her choice and let her know that you still care for her and that no matter what, you'll be there for her. Giving her some space can help both you and her.
