What is the best ribbon for breyer halters?
I use the smallest size (about 1/2 a centimeter) of grosgrain ribbon for my halters. Here is a list of items needed to make CM model horse halters.
- Grosgrain ribbon -- Any colors you'd like. You can find these at craft stores, and at Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart sells them for under $1.00 for a very long distance of ribbon.
- Jump Rings -- These are somewhat expensive compared to the ribbon. They are small metal rings often used for beading. Again, you can find these at Wal-Marts, Targets, and craft stores. I use the smaller sizes of them, and the occasional larger one for the cheek ring.
- Halter holds -- These are square-shaped "things" similar to jump rings. These are very hard to find, and are most likely very expensive, but if the halter is made right, will produce an LSQ halter.
- Super Glue -- Super Glue, despite it's amazing powers, is very cheap. you can find it at craft stores, hardware stores, and of course Wal-Mart (what can't you find there?). You use this to glue the ribbon together after you loop it through the jump rings.

Do traditional breyer saddles fit classic breyer horses?
Most Traditional saddles do not fit Classic Breyer horses. Although, Breyer made some Traditional horses like Newsworthy and the "My Favorite Horse, Appaloosa" that are more Classic sized but they do fit in the Traditional saddles. Breyer does make saddles for Classic Breyers but they aren't fancy like the Traditional ones are.

First of all there is a website called Utterly horses where you can buy everything breyer, they also have sections to help you create tack, scenes and much more ideas for breyer things!!
Second of all, if you go onto youtube, tere are millions of videos of breyer tack and so just type in what you want to search for e.g. breyer tack patterns - you will find many videos of custom tack and ideas for tack making.

What I do to think up shownames is first pick the breed, then try and find a name that matches the breed. I'd say that the Dun Tobiano in that collection is probably a mustang (judging by the mold's title...). So a versatile name would be good, as opposed to something in Arabic (which would fit an exotic Arabian), or something in Spanish for a graceful Andalusian.

I use one of those sharp tools that you get in scraper foil packs, but usually anything sharp will do, maybe a Stanley knife or something. All you have to do if choose where you want to etch and gently scrape away at the paint, not so that you make huge dents in the model but so that only the paint is gone.

I have noticed pn the models I have from when breyer first started, they don't have the breyer/breyer reeves stamp but do have a stamp saying the conrty (MIne say USA on the top of the leg). Hope this helps.

Edit: Breyers are so expensive, for one thing, they are darn tootin' realistic, and also hand-painted. I belive the plastic is resin, maybe, 'cause that's what I heard.
