The BSS was made from 71-88 in 12 and 20 guage. Barrel markings were originally (in order). "Made in Japan" followed by "Made in Japan and Assembled in Korea" and finally "Made in Koera from parts made in Japan". The 20's were all 3" from inception in 1972. A 3' 12 guage became available in 1975, when the 30' Full and Full guns were first introduced in 1975. Afterwards, only 3" 12 guages were made ( idlelock 12's were the exception). It was given a a selective single trigger when the sporter model was introduced in 1977-1978. In the early 80's the pistol grip had a single select trigger. Production became to expensive in Japan, so Miroku went to a less expensive labor source. You will need to call Browning, that sn does not follow Browning numbering.

The B78's were made for Browning by Miroku of Japan from 1973 to 1982 and the values vary a bit. A moderately used 78 in a popular caliber will run from $800 to $1500. Their popularity is apparently on the way back and Winchester has started making a Model 1885 which is basically the same gun with less flashy wood and not many chamberings. Browning had made an 1885 Model back in the 90's for a few years. I purchased a mint 6mm B-78 two years ago for $850 and thought it one hell of a deal.

Generally if unfired in the DU case, they go for $1500-$1800 for the 12ga. The 20ga sells better and the 16ga, is usually over $2000

Value is too difficult to be accurate without seeing the gun. Condition which includes the amount of original finish and original configuration will determine value. Auto 5's with poly-chokes, compensators and recoil pads (other than Mag 12's) will reduce value. Near mint guns and original box will command an extra premium. Recommend taking it to a gun shop for appraisal.

The value of a Beretta actually depends highly upon a number of factors. Some of those include age and condition.

If it has a 3" chamber like mine it will shoot pretty much anything you can throw in it.

1000 to 5000. If it is in good condition, fires well, doesn't jam, has been taken care of, no hard wear and tear, close to 5 k. Has to be in great condition for that. Make sure it is cleaned and oiled before you sell it, if you sell it. If it is a pile of junk and looks like it went through Hell and back, only about 1000 if it is in okay condition. .

While I cannot state the exact year of your Stevens model 520 production,I can say that this model of shotgun was made from 1912-1932.Stevens/Savage made 191,000 during these years

Condition is everything when considering the value of a firearm.A Browning auto-5 in 20ga, will bring between 375-600 dollars for a firearm showing between 60%-95% of its original finish,and a good bore.The 60% condition reflects 375.00 dollars and the 95% reflects the 600.00 dollars.When I say original finish,I am talking about the finish on the wood and metal parts of your shotgun.

I would like to start out with I have never seen a Browning serial number as described by you.Are we sure that you have a Browning 16ga shotgun,or another made shotgun that may have used Browning,s patent?I must admit that I have never seen a straight stocked Browning shotgun or heard of one in my many years of collecting firearms.
