What is the oldest allowed age for a nun?
I don't understand what you mean by the "oldest" required age but here is my answer that I KNOW to be true: 1) Must be a member of the Catholic church, completed the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation. These are staged throughout the ages of development in body and mind. That means you must have completed them chronologically. Confirmation requires learning and studdying in order to become Confirmed. You will not be allowed to confirmed without permission from the church. Usually this occurs with entry into high school. 2) Most orders require that you have a degree of some sort in order to better fulfill your calling and the order. Education is very important in determining if one is ready to become a nun. 3) Can not have previously been married, unless widdowed. If previously married you must prove the falseness of such marriage, and its preferred the divorce be from the Catholic Church. 4) You can not have any debt. 5) If you have children, they must be over the age of 18. 6) Almost always you will need to have apprenticeship. These are temporary vows before you will be able to become a nun. IN CONCLUSION: Age is irrelevent if these steps are completed and your vows are true.

I really doubt it. Buddhists see a great deal of purpose in life and they are not likely to welcome you with open arms if you tell them you can't think of anything better to do. If you feel that you believe in nothing at all you should become a Nihilist, but iin truth if you really see no purpose in living you should see a psychiatrist. I'm not trying to be funny here either, because I can tell you from long experience that the biggest and perhaps most dangerous sign of clinical depression is that you see no sense or purpose in living.
You can arrange to see a psychiatrist without first going to a family doctor. It's not a psychiatrists job to tell you why you should see purpose in living any more than it is mine, but he will diagnose your symptoms and prescribe any of a whole slew of depression medications that will at least ease your worst psychological pain while you sort out your life. If you need help sorting out your life, you could try a therapist. I suggest you go to the home page for Psychology Today where you can do a search for therapists by zip code. The list that you get back will give you a brief biography of the therapist and list their specialty: perhaps you need someone who specializes in talking to people eho have just gone through a divorce, or an abusive relationship, or the death of a loved one, or adolescent issues, ar any one of a couple of dozen specialties.
What is the importance of the holy text for Buddhism?
Many Buddhist view the Suttas and Sutras to be the words of Buddha directly handed down over many generations. In addition, the reading of canonical texts is said to be a valid form of religious practice and a means through which a practitioner can meditate. Many Sutras, such as the Dharmaparyayas, are said to have transformative properties on the mind and oftentimes have a profound effect on its readers. Other Sutras provide philosophical and moral guidance as well as a source of merit through which one can produce positive karma.
Buddhists do not worship anyone or anything. The Buddha himself said that he was not a god nor should he be worshiped. However, you may see people bowing to a statue of the Buddha; this is merely showing respect in the same way that one might bow to a King or Queen or salute the flag.
Buddhism is not a religion in the Western sense but is a philosophy of living as a way to improve your life and the lives of those around you.
AnswerIn Buddhism, there are higher beings commonly designed as gods, Devas. However, Buddhism does not teach the notion of praying nor worship to the Devas or any god(s).Devas, in general, are beings who have had more positive karma in their past lives than humans. Their lifespan eventually ends. When their lives end, they will be reborn as devas or as other beings. When they accumulate negative karma, they are reborn as either human or any of the other lower beings. Humans and other beings could also be reborn as a deva in their next rebirth, if they accumulate many positive karma, however it is not recommended.
Buddhism flourished in different countries, but it may have polytheistic features there, but generally the "local" types Buddhism are mixed from part of that country's folk religion and the "proto-Buddhism". For example, in Japan, Buddhism, mixed with Shinto, which worships kamis (or nature spirits), created a tradition which prays to the kamis. Thus, there may be elements of worship of gods in some forms of later Buddhism.
AnswerBuddhism originally is a Philosophy of Ending of Sufferings, thus they don't have gods or deities. It is only later that it became a religion (with rituals). Anyone can follow the Buddhist Philosophy and still remain with their religion. One example is Norman Fiscer, A Jewish-American Soto Zen Buddhist. (see link).Buddhists trust in
Why did Siddhartha starve himself?
As his initial attempt to achieve enlightenment he became an ascetic (a person who leads a life of contemplation and rigorous self-denial for religious purposes). He realized that his previous life of comfort had led him nowhere. His thinking was that without the pleasures to distract him, his mind would focus on the true meaning of existence.
Unfortunately this did not work as all that a hungry and cold person thinks of is the hunger and cold.
He eventually realized that neither luxury or deprivation lead to enlightenment, only the middle way of "enough" provides the health existence that leads to improvement.
