Can you bypass the supercharger on a 1993 Buick Park Avenue?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes, on a Series One 3800 V6 use a shorter belt... AutoZone Duralast Multi-V belt Part Number 795K6.. which is basically a 79 1/2 inch belt. I routed the belt exactly as the diagram shows, just omitting the Supercharger. I took it to a mechanic I trust afterward (even though he said it couldn't be done) so he could take a look and make sure I wasn't going to blow the motor. He said that all his references showed no danger, just that the performance would be "a little less peppy", and since then I've driven 1,000+ miles and everything seems to be running along just fine.

Please note: there is a power steering line that the belt may rub against so adjust by bending that metal hose very gently upward with a crow bar until the belt is clear (maybe 1/4 inch).

On a Series Two 3800 V6 supercharged engine, the supercharger has it's own separate accessory belt which can simply be removed and the car will run just fine, the computer adjusts automatically and there are no intake manifold problems.

What is wrong if air will not flow from proper vents in a 1992 Buick Park Avenue?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Make sure there is vacuum going from the intake into the inside of the car. If it is, the problem is in the programmer and needs to be checked out by a mechanic. There is a small metal black box 1"x2"x1" with about 6 hoses running into it on the top of your intake manifold, and most likely a disconnected hose coming from a big black plastic box on your firewall, your vents don't open from the magic buttons on the dash, it uses the vaccum from the intake.....that same problem boggled my mind for about 3 months till I was changing the spark plugs one day and found a hose that went nowhere =P

How do you remove 1986 Buick Park Avenue rear bumper?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

well to start with you need to remove the bumper reinforcement piece from the bumper shocks ( the things that go in if some one hits you). But if its like mine, I am haveing fun getting it off because the bolts are so dang rusty, they are just stuck. The one side of the reinforcement is rusted through so my bumper is just setting on the support piece. Well hope to have been some help.

What is causing engine knocking during acceleration in high gear with standard fuel and correct timing on a 94 Park Avenue Ultra?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Timing is controlled by the PCM, and is not adjustable. You might have a problem with either a plugged gas filter, egr system malfunctioning, or induction problem (leaking tube going from the MAF/MAP to the throttle body. Also check the PCV valve. In addition, carbon buildup. Most supercharged vehicles require premium fuel only. Also, engine pre-detonation (knock) is sometimes a symptom of high exhaust back pressure. You might have a muffler shop check the back pressure in your exhaust. It could be a plugged up catalyst.

How do you replace the cabin filter on a 2000 Park Avenue Ultra?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The cabin filter is accessed through a small flip-open door located above and to the right of the gas pedal. The "door" has a small tab sticking out for you to grasp and flip open. Unhook the door and set it aside.

The cabin filter is actually assembled in 3 sections. Each section is removed through this door. Each section also has a flip-down tab that will pop out of the access door to help you pull that section out. It may be stubborn -- I keep a pair of pliers handy, but try not to break off the tab since it will slow you down. Note: I've changed these on several PAs, and many are not installed correctly, even from the factory, so don't despair. I've even seen two sections left taped together.

Removing each section will require you to flex it around, behind the gas pedal. This is the angle of approach you need to use with loading the new sections.

To install the new filter, feed the first section into the access door, with the flip-down tab facing you. Once the section is in place, push the tab inward, along-side the filter and lift the whole section up to provide room to insert the next section. Notice the sections have notches along the top and bottom to inter-lock each section as you slide the next one in.
