Thanks to many dedicated hobbyists the breed was brought back from the brink and selectively bred into the docile easy-going dog you see today. Eye problems (like cherry eye, entropion), heart defects, breathing difficulties, problems with hips, elbows, and knees, allergies, skin conditions, hyperuricosuria (a genetic defect that causes bladder stones), tracheal hypoplasia, epilepsy, alopecia (hair loss), recurring ear infections, deafness, lymphosarcoma, hemangiosarcoma, mammary cancer, hemivertebrae, spina bifida, urethral prolapse, lymphedema, head tremors, hypothyroidism, and bloat are just some of the MANY conditions that are found in the breed. but as i said, it all depends on how well it is cared for and the breeding and genetics of the dog. hope this is the answer you were looking for!
