You have to gain EXP by playing in online multiplayer matches. As you gain levels you unlock new guns, perks, and challenges. Challenges also make you level up if you complete them. Once you reach level 65 you then have the option to go prestige and then it is like pretty much starting the game all over again and it is really fun to do.

Once you start over, you gain another create a class tab which means you can create more customizable class guns
