Keep other house animals and kids away from it.
Put newspaper shreddings in the cage for the mother to make a nice nest for them.
Make sure there is enough seeds and food for the mother to make milk for all of them.
Don't touch the babies or their mother will smell you on them and may disown them.

What signs do hens show when giving birth?
First of all, hens do not give birth; they lay eggs. Right before doing so, they may squat or sit on a nest or the ground, cluck softly, and move around a bit, as if they are slightly uncomfortable. They may cluck more loudly when the egg actually leaves their body. At no time do they seem to be in great pain, unless there are complications.
What kind of shavings are good for a pet rat?
Most any shavings, but avoid pine, cedar, and "fluffy" or "soft" bedding. You could even use shredded paper, but no newsprint or "shiny" paper. Really any shavings you could use for a gerbil or hamster.

Well, as your pet mouse/ mice will need to be fed twice a day, you should not go on holiday without someone looking out for them... You could ask a family member, neighbour or even a friend just to feed them (cuddle them, fresh water daily and if necessary clean them out) whilst you are away... They could be taken to their house (as long as there is no cats/ dogs that'll attack or harm them) or just stay at your house with a 'mouse babysitter with a spare key'!

Mice should only eat lactose free diary products, as they can't digest lactose very well.
