I lost my pet snake?

You didn't 'lose' it - you carelessly let it escape by not securing its vivarium ! It could be absolutely anywhere in your house - or - it's more likely found its way outdoors and is considerable distance away ! IF it's still in your house - you might get it back if it comes out of hiding. If it's outside - say goodbye to it forever, as it's very likely to have been eaten by another animal ! Use this 'episode' as a learning tool !

How can you tell a green snake is a female or male?

There are two main accepted methods to sexing a snake. These are called popping and probing. Neither of these should be done if you are not 100% sure of what you're doing, and since you posted this question, I will assume that you are not. I would never try to use either of these methods on my snakes, since I simply don't have enough experience with it. Your best bet is to take your snake to a vet and have them show you how to do it. There are a few other sexing techniques which are not 100% reliable and vary from species to species. Male hognoses and cornsnakes will both have longer tails than their female counterparts (if lined up at the vent), though I'm not sure if this hold true for green snakes. This is also a fairly useless method if you only have one snake, or even a whole bunch of snakes all of the same gender. However, I will repeat what I said earlier, that your best bet if you really want to know the sex is to take your snake to a vet. females are bigger.

Why can't you get the baby corn snakes to eat there first feeding?

Baby corn snakes are by far the hardest snake to eat when they are a baby. After they have defecated the food from the egg is the time to start trying to feed them. The easiest way is to get a small deli cup or tupperware, make several good holes on the top so they can breath but not escape. Put a live mouse pinkie in the deli cup with the snake and put the snake over (or near) it's heat in it's enclosure. Leave it alone overnight and see if he ate it in the morning. If the mouse is still there they try to "brain" the pinkie by using a pin to the top of the pinkies head to expose some of the brain juice. Gently rub the head of the pinkie on the mouth of the snake and leave it for a couple of hours.

The word 'snake' is a general term to describe a specific group of reptiles. A hatchling is the term given to a newly-hatched snake - up to about 3 months old.

Is there any cleaning involved with a snake?

Yes ! They need:-

Clean water every day.

Faeces and uric acid removing as soon as you notice it is there.

The whole vivarium cleaning out (and washing with a damp cloth and weak disinfectant solution) once a week.

Any soiled substrate removing as soon as you notice it.

All cage 'furniture' cleaned once a week.

This will keep bacteria to a minimum - and ensure the vivarium is clean, and free from contamination by excretions. Put simply, it's basic hygiene 'housekeeping' that comes with owning a reptile !

How much do corn snakes cost at incredible pets?

Speaking from personal experience - I would rather go to either a SPECIALIST reptile shop or a private reptile breeder !

Places like Incredible Pets are GENERAL pet shops - often their detailed knowledge is limited, and at best far too sketchy to be useful. Additionally, there is no real guarantee of the quality and health of their livestock.

Specialist shops and are more familiar with the intricate details of reptiles, often dealing with only one or two experienced breeders. Private breeders often have many years experience of breeding reptiles (25 years in MY case !)

Probably best to leave them alone to get on with it. As the old skin separates, it becomes uncomfortable - and the snake mayturn bad-tempered (I've had experience of that !). Just leave them be until they've shed.
