If you try to bottle/dropper-feed abandoned newborn kittens, you will have bad results because you cannot reliably regulate their temperature, keep them clean, provide necessary bacteria to populate their digestive system nor stimulate their digestive system by licking them.

Call your local animal shelter or veterinarian. Most can be expected to have several mother cats that can provide the service and they are staffed with trained people who can provide further assistance. They may even be able to provide a hormone injection for the natural mother to trigger her milk letdown if she is, otherwise still tending to the kittens. Get on this quickly because the newborns won't survive longer than a day without food.

Handle them with a towel until they are 4 days old, but be very CAREFUL you can break a bone by touching a kitten. i advise you to let the mama cat take care of the kitten for a while. They know what they're doing.

Cats in general do not eat their young. Feline mothers actually go to great lengths to ensure the safety of their kittens, until they reach a certain age.

Male cats, however, will eat their fathered children if given the chance. The reason for this is that the male does not recognize the kittens as his children. So it is really just eat to survive. Female cats also don't recognize their young after they mature and leave 'the nest.'

I'm not positive, but I'm assuming that the reason for this is that cats are solitary animals; there is no real social structure among cats in the wild (lions being the exception). So from an evolutionary standpoint, there is no reason for cats to form a connection with their young. The mother understands that her kittens are her's until her job as a mother is done. Then she goes back to a solitary existence, doing what she needs to survive, even if that means killing another cat (who might be child, but she wouldn't know)

The mother cat also eats their young when the kitten's born deformed or turn sick. She does this to protect the rest of the litter or at least herself if all of them turn sick. It's better for her to eat them then having the dead corpse lie about and flourish with diseases that may harm the rest, and also the predators would find out where she and her other kittens are by the dead corpse.

I doubt it. A cat will only drink clean water out of a toilet bowl, so the likelihood of a cat becoming ill from drinking water is unlikely. A cat usually contracts urinary infections from not drinking enough water and the urine becomes too concentrated.

YES! Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic disease caused by the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii. The parasite infects most warm-blooded animals, including humans, but the primary host is the felid (cat) family. Animals are infected by eating infected meat, by ingestion of feces of a cat that has itself recently been infected, or by transmission from mother to fetus. Cats have been shown as a major reservoir of this infection.

The mother cat will clean the kitten for awhile (about 6 weeks) or until the kitten cleans itself, but it is a good practice to clean the kitten so it can get used to bathing. There are some soaps that you can purchase to help the bathing process.

when ever they have their attention fixed on something they can't turn their head so they can hear it better so their ears move toward the sound.thats why if your cats looking away from you and you are to the side of it, if you snap your fingers the cats head wont move but the inner part of their ears will turn towards you.

Not all felines will exhibit a licking behavior when their back is being scratched.

The licking behavior, while common, is more of an individualistic behavior, and most likely a grooming response. When the cats back is being scratched, the cat feels something similar to self grooming or grooming from another cat, and some will lick the air in time with the stroking.

Licking in response to stroking or scratching is not necessarily a species wide behavior however, and not all cats will react similarly.

A response that is very close to being species wide is the movement when the base of their tail is scratched. Most cats will stiffen the legs and tail, raising their posterior high on straightened legs and many will additionally appear to point their lower jaw, stiffen the neck and turn their head toward their back. Most experts suggest that cats enjoy having the base of their tail scratched... 1.) Because it is sexually stimulating, and 2.) because this is an area inhabited by fleas and scratching there relieves an itch. I suspect that both may be factual.

It is not advisable to attempt this scratching on a cat you are not very familiar with, as some will be inclined to bite when the base of their tail is scratched; especially if the scratching is done a bit too aggressively.

It's not especially good for them, so don't make a habit of feeding your cat candy. But if she got into a little while you weren't looking, don't fret about it either. :)

This actually happens a lot with kittens. It doesnt really harm the kitten, but if you catch it doing that, you keep taking the cat out, and try your best just to keep an eye on them. There really is no way on stopping them, but its not going to harm them. Again... just keep an eye on them and make sure they are just in there to do their business
