Cd writers can only play CD disks. Cd writers cannot play a DVD disk. In order to watch/burn DVD's on your computer, you must install a DVD writer which you may purchase from computer stores such as Best Buy. A Dvd writer can read/write DVD's, as well as read/write CD's due to it's backward compatibility.

The rubber in a rubber band is poor quality and will disintegrate in a short time. However I did just that in a CD changer in my component stereo system. I wanted to make sure the player, which had been stored for a couple of years, still worked. The drive belt had become too loose to work the mechanism, so I found a rubber band the right size and put it on. It works fine, and since I cleaned the lens at the same time it now tracks fine, again, as well. I should emphasize that this is a temporary fix until I can locate a source for a quality drive belt, as the rubber band will not last long and the rubber in a rubber band gets sticky and could damage the player if I leave it for a long time. Best to get a good replacement belt if you can find a source for one.

If it is only a short movie one of the other options from the iMovie Share menu will probably suffice. A small movie can be emailed, burnt to a disc and shared with other computers, or posted directly to a YouTube account.

Unfortunately, if you've got a cracked CD, chances are it's probably too damaged to be played. CDs are 'read' by laser beams, which means something like a crack would almost certainly disrupt the 'reading' and render playing of the CD impossible. Sorry.

IME that particular error code means the cd is not spinning in cd plyer...Removed the cover off mine and it tries to focus the eye and WILL NOT spin the disc to get the disc info...started intermittently and then nothing will play...good thing I have another headunit....
