Hints: General Tips

• Feed the dog the light bulb that appears over your dogs head, it will make it learn the trick quicker. If you feed a bone to dog it gives trainer points!
• Throw a toy. No matter if the dog catches it or not rub him/her on the head. Any time you pet your dog and sparkles appear you get trainer points. Do the same when the dog does a trick correctly.
• Whistle and call its name, instead of pressing the round button to call your dog.
• walks give you 100 trainer pts. On the end of your walk go to a park. Put on new collar. It will save any items found. You can go on a walk again!
• Go to contests and place in the top 3.
• Visit friends in bark mode
• Let it play with other dogs you own
• Give it a bath then brush it
• Play it music it likes
• Before you go into a contest save. Then if you do poorly in a contest you can shut it off BEFORE the contest is over and you can restart it.
• Buy treats from the discount store and give them to the dog when it's good, does a trick, does good in a contest, finds good presents for you, and when it doesn't get into fights with other dogs.

Hint: Basic Tricks

Sneeze: While sitting tap your dogs nose. it should sneeze. This can be taught as a trick.

Backflip: Tell your dog to sit. Then, tell your dog to jump. it should do a backflip. This can be taught.

Speak: buy a keyboard (at 5000 trainer points) tap the little trumpet symbol. Now tap the camera symbol until it reaches the right dog. hold the lowest note (the left side) your dog should bark (keep holding) then the lightbulb will appear. let go of the note and teach the trick.

Wave: Tell your dog to sit. now grab his ear and move it around the dog should bring it's paw up then tap the lightbulb and teach it the trick. Stand: tell your dog to beg. now take his chest and slide up. he should stand up. tap the bulb and teach the trick.

Hint: Walk Till You Drop

Before making the last stop in the park, change your dog's collar to auto-save your game. Turn off the DS and cold boot the game. This will enable you to save any items you found during the walk and restarts your walk at the same time, allowing you to farm the park for items.

Hint: Easy Trainer Points

Navigate to the screen where you wash your puppy. Instead of actually brushing the puppy, leave the brush over your puppy (in the center of your dog). For each real-time minute the brush stays there sits there, you should gain one Trainer Point.

Hint: Beat The System

Prior to attending a contest, save the game. While attempting the trial, you may opt to turn off the Nintendo DS and reload your save (before the contest) to retry without docking your daily contest limit.

Hint: Gift Locator

To find out if garbage or a present is approaching during one of your walks, look at the top screen. There should be the little dog symbol on the path that you drew. If that dog symbol stops and your dog is still walking, this indicates that either garbage or a present is coming up on the floor. If it is a present, tug your dog to a stop and your dog will notice it. It will pick it up and bring it over to you. It is easier to do this when your dog is running.

Easter Egg: Bulb Treat

When the light bulb appears, Use the stylus to drag the light bulb over your Nintendogs mouth. Your Nintendog will eat it. This has nothing to do with your Nintendogs hunger as it will do nothing to make it full or hurt.

Hint: Free Gifts and Toys

While you can purchase new toys for your pup to play with, you can actually get some goodies for free if you know where to look. When you take your Nintendog on a walk, outline a path that goes by the blue "?" boxes marked on the map. Your puppy is likely to run off screen at those points and come back with a present for you!

Your puppy will also randomly run to get presents for you if you leave the game on the "Home" screen for long. If left unattended, your Nintendog will leave the apartment and stay off screen. Simply tap on the center button (the circular one) to whistle and call back your pup who should be carrying a new present.

Cheat: Move a Starite Through a Metal Beam

To move a Starite through a solid metal beam, attach the starite to a chain, and the chain to the beam. If the beam is lying flat, the Starite will fall through the beam. If its vertical, use a Fan (tool) and direct it through the beam. It will fly through while still attached to the chain.

Cheat: Bring the Starite to You

A glitch, of sorts, in Scribblenauts can make the "Get the Starite" levels a breeze. Create "HANDCUFFS" and attach one end to the Starite. Create a "VENDING MACHINE" and set it next to the Starite, stretching the free handcuff over and attaching it to the machine. After attaching it, you'll suddenly get the option to "fill" the machine with the cuffs and, surprisingly, the Starite attached to them. You can now freely move that vending machine to your location, unpack it and grab the Starite. It's crude, cowardly and oh-so-effective.

Hint: Easy Ollars

On the final "Get to the Starite" level, you can reach the Starite by walking over to the four walls, waiting for them to move up and simply grabbing the Starite. Yeah it's that easy. 24 under par gets you about 6000 Ollars plus however much you get for finishing the level in 20 seconds. You can do this many times for easy Ollars.

Cheat: Them's Cheatin Words!

Enter the following terms for extremely useful things:

• INVINCIBILITY CLOAK - Put this on and you'll take no damage
• INVISIBILITY CLOAK - Harmful creatures won't be able to see you with this item equipped
• POCKET KNIFE - (Weapon) Infinitely useful!
• LUNAR LANDER / LUNAR ROVER - Cancel out gravity in style -- the Lander is more compact
• BLACK HOLE - A mini Black Hole forms to suck in ANY enemy or offending object (boulders, spiked steel balls) before dissipating a few seconds later into the ether...
• SHRINK RAY - Shrink any enemy creature to a more manageable size
• FREEZE RAY - Freeze enemies in a cube of ice (temporarily)
• CHI - A friendly, floating Chinese dragon you can ride
• REINDEER - It can fly!

Hint: Taming the Beast

Any monster/creature that is big enough to ride but also wants to kill you can be tamed if you feed it three times. It will fall asleep and then -- when it wakes up -- you can ride on it.

Cheat: Re-Use Words in Challenge Mode

Challenge Mode encourages you to get creative by not allowing you to use the same words in three separate trials. If you are feeling uncreative, you can take advantage of The Great Adjective Exploit to bypass this entirely: just add an adjective (or gibberish) in front of a word and the game will give you a free pass to use it again. For instance, to "reuse" MONSTER, type SCARY MONSTER or GIANT MONSTER and the game will react as if you just used the term MONSTER for the first time!

Easter Egg: 5th Cell Staff Room

In Challenge Mode, create a "TELEPORTER" and use it. You'll be taken to the 5th Cell Staff Room where you can view the developers and more. You may also be taken to two other secret levels -- it's random!
