A 13 yr old can watch their siblings if they have been properly schooled on babysitting their siblings. If the child of 13 is responsible enough and knows the proper emergency numbers to call and knows first aid. If it is legal, maybe not. But there are a lot of families out there that have no other means to child care.

Im not sure, but in Australia i think its 14 years, I am not sure how many kids a 14yr old can babysit though. Hope that was helpful.

You could have one spoiled child on your hands or there could be some valid reasons for this behavior.

It is not a very good thing at all to fall asleep on the job. Your babysitter may have fallen asleep on purpose but even if she didn't you never should fall asleep while taking care of a child. The child could have got hurt or got into something they knew they wearn't supposed to.

The MN Human Services Dept states a child should be of 11 ages or older to care for younger children. It is a reccomendation I believe but is a good guideline I think.

That totally depends upon the child. The best babysitter I ever used was eleven years old. She was certified in infant and child first aid. Also she was certified in CPR for infants and toddlers. Beyond that she was patient and loving.

The rate for babysitters in California currently ranges from about $10 to $25 an hour depending on the babysitter's experience and if they are good with kids or not, and sometimes even age. For example, if you hire a high school student, of course it'll be cheaper then lets say a college or post college sitter. Ranking the professional nannies at the highest rates. Most parents would rather hire someone more responsible and will be able to deal with emergencies. Professional Nannies usually demand a lot of hours and charge a lot more, but you'd feel more safe leaving your kids/infants with them. For responsible sitters at a lower rate, college students are ideal ($12-$18 /hr). Nothing's wrong with hiring a high school student as a sitter, but as a parent, I would be more worried leaving my kids.

I heard a rumor that the legal driving age in LA, CA was being changed to 18, is this true? If so, what age group will this start to effect?

It dosent really matter what age you are anywhere if it babysitting like your brothers. I couldent find any "LAWS" so it all depends about your parents and whoevers children your babysittin.

If I were you, you have to scout for the charges for room and board that other boarding houses charge, then try to compare them. In this way, you can calculate on how much you're going to charge for room and board.

Children eat what you put in front of them. One month they can love mushrooms and the next they don't. it varies which is why it's important to introduce them to new things. It usually takes 3-4 times until they taste something but it's important it's there on their plate. And if they refuse to eat, fine. No child has ever starved to death because they refused to eat their broccoli if you know what I mean.

I would say the most you could charge is $5.50 an hour you should start lower, at about $4.25, and gradually increase. Twelve years olds won't be trusted as much a fourteen or fifteen yearolds so many people would rather pay more for teens with more experience. I started out babysitting for my 3 younger brothers when I was about 10 or 11 years old and worked my waty to my cousins when I was 12. I think it depends how trust-worthy you can be. For example, if you are the youngest in your family or you are an only child at 12 years old, I think you might be a little un-trust-worthy because you don't have any experience. If you are the oldest and have younger siblings, I think you are pretty trust-worthy.
