Depends on your local licensing laws--check with your city. Many people are not licensed, but it pays off in the long run.

11 is okay for younger siblings but 12/13 is the age for actually babysitting other children in your neighborhood or community. I HIGHLY recommend waiting until 11 1/2 to start babysitting younger siblings or anyone.

No a 12 year old is too young and should be 16 before babysitting a 8 year old. There is only 4 year difference and not enough expereince in case something should happen.

Early childhood education typically covers children pre-K (five years old or younger) through fourth grade (nine years old).

Some babies sit up by 6 months. Apparently, however, not sitting up by 9 months isn't a big deal either.

Depending on the number of kids, I charge 7.00$ an hour for infants/toddler and 5.00 for 3 yo and up. Additional children are 2.oo a head. For overnight jobs, I get the hours needed and consider the ages of kids and the duties needed to be performed during the overnight. I like to give a flat rate for the hours of 6:00 pm to 8:00 am of $80.00 for our neighbor infant. If additional time is needed then I charge the hourly rate of $7.oo an hour. For another neighbor, with 4 kids ranging in ages of infancy to 9 yo, I charge an 15$ an hour and and 150$ for the 6:00pm to 8:00 am overnight.

Any thoughts to my system? Am I to expensive ?

At the age of 14 you are considered to be mature enough to look after the welfare of other children. As long as you know how to take care of an infant properly such as feeding and changing them, then it is a good age to take care of a 9 month old.

The state has not created a law regarding this. Is the individual responsible? Can they handle an emergency without freaking out? Do they know who to contact? Most authorities agree that a 12 or 13 year old can take care of younger kids, not infants or toddlers, for a short period of time during the daylight.

While the children are awake, you can play games, like checkers, or depending on their age. There are some good kids indoor games on the net. You can have a snack with them, and make sure to always to what the parents ask. Put them to bed after brushing their teeth etc. After they are settled in you can watch tv, talk on the phone with friends, if they have call waiting. Have a snack, but make sure to clean up after. Above all, make sure the kids are safe. That is your first priority! And don't forget top make it fun for you as well as them! It's a great first job, and make extra money, too! Take along a cheap digital camera and play "photo shoot" Get a sheet in the backround. Then, you can show the parents when they come home. Just make sure you put everything worn back!

Depends on where you live to be honest. If you live in a more metropolitan area you can expect 12-17/hr based on your qualifications and your assets (ie driving, cpr certification) If you are in a more rural area you can probably expect up to $14. I live in LA and I am a nanny in Studio city for 2 kids (10 and 14) and I make $15/hr and they are pretty much self sufficient. I drive them where they need to go, cook meals, and help with hw.

yes but you will have to prove trustworthiness and care to the "costumer" but most people would advise adult supervision.

When interviewing for a job in child care, you may have to answer why you are interested in the job. Answering the question honestly and including the reasons, which can be your love of children.

Check the American Red Cross website and search for the one nearest you. They will have a list of classes offered, check over the list (or search for babysitting classes.) You will find the right location, day, and time for you.

First of all, the child must be comfortable with the fact that its parents will be gone for some time. Secondly, it is very important that the child know how to call for help or advice if needed.

You have to be at least 10 years old to take the Babysitting Course. In the class they learn CPR for child and infant among many other valuable lessons. As far as legally, I have heard 10 for siblings and 11 for others but I have tried to research the legal age and have not been able to find any for sure. Hope this helps.

There is none as long as the person your babysitting for trust you then it is ok. Some kid i know started babysitting at 9 he was in charge of a 1 year old!
