How do Peter Susan and Edmund react to Lucy's story abouy the world inside the wardrobe?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

They didn't believe her at first, none of them did.

However one night Lucy decided to slip back into the wardrobe, and Edmund saw her and followed, therefore finding Narnia. While Lucy went to visit Mr Tumnus, Edmund had bumped into the White Witch who had tricked him by using Turkish Delight. A few days later, all the Pevensie kids were playing cricket when Edmund batted the ball to hard and it smashed a window. They ran around the whole house, trying to avoid Ms Macready ( the extremely strict house keeper ) and they all hid in the wardrobe, and they all went into Narnia. Peter and Susan for the first time, Edmund for his second and Lucy for her third.

Why did C.S. Lewis call his fantasy world Narnia?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Probably because Chronicles are like stories. These children: Peter, Susan, Edward, and Lucy all had stories about going to Narnia and had many adventures there, like chronicles. These adventures took place in Narnia, so he probably named the books because of that.

How is The Chronicles of Narnia like a chrysalis?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

When the Pevensie children enter Narnia, they are wide-eyed and innocent: innocent of the reality of evil, and innocent about who and what Aslan really is. By the end of the Chronicles, Peter, Edmund and Lucy have not only gained knowledge about Aslan, his sacrifice and his triumph over evil, but it is presumed that they have emerged into a whole new world where they recognise Aslan is really Christ, the one who offers eternal life. Clear "chrysalis" symbolism is also seen when Eustace Scrubb becomes a dragon in "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader". A most obnoxious and greedy character at the beginning of the book, he is literally transformed when Aslan painfully peels away layers and layers of Eustace's dragon scales and skin, until there is nothing but a small, naked, scared little boy who emerges, with a whole new understanding of himself and aslan.

Why does Mr Tumnus cry to Lucy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Mr. Tumnus was working for the White Witch and had orders to kidnap any human child that he came across. He invited Lucy to tea and made her fall asleep by playing his flute so that he could take her to the White Witch. Halfway through his plan, however, he realized that capturing an innocent girl would be wrong and cannot continue to deceive her. He cries out of shame of what he had almost done and out of fear of what the Witch will do to punish him if she finds he did not obey her orders.

The main similarity between Uncle Andrew and Jadis was that they both wanted power.
