How do you translate sheet music into letters?
If the piece is played in the Treble Clef (it looks like a reflected "s," the & symbol or a fancy "g"), then, from the bottom to the top, each horizontal line in the staff stands for the notes EGBDF, respectively. A good mnemonic device for this is "Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge." :) The four spaces in between the lines stand for the notes FACE. Each instrument has different ways of producing a note. It's up to you to memorize how to make each sound. The black note symbols, depending on their placement and shape, tell you what sound/note to make, and the length of the sound.
This is sheet music reading in its most basic form. There are many symbols in sheet music reading, but ultimately one just has to memorize their meanings and learn to manipulate his instrument accordingly.

How do you make a sound from the clarinet?
If you've seen a clarinet, you'll know that they're very intricate, with the size of the keyholes, and the delicate keys etc. Plus, the mouthpiece would be extremely difficult to get exactly right to fit ligatures and reeds etc. You'd also have to find a case that fits your clarinet exactly. So my advice is to just buy one. Making one would not be cheaper, after all of the metal welding and wood. It'd be cheaper, easier, and more reliable to buy a clarinet off a well-known manufacturer, such as Yamaha, or Buffet Compond
What are some famous songs for the clarinet?
Well, that depends on what you mean by popular. One popular song today is Acker Bilk's Stranger on the Shore. Here are some very popular works of the clarinet's
CLASSICAL repertoire:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Clarinet Concerto, Clarinet Quintet
Gioachino Rossini: Introduction, Theme and Variations
Carl Maria Von Weber: Clarinet Concertino, Clarinet Concerto No. 1, Clarinet Concerto No. 2, Grand Duo Concertant
From the JAZZ repertoire:
Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue (only the intro, but it is one of the most well known clarinet excerpts EVER)
Artie Shaw: Clarinet Concerto
pretty much anything by Benny Goodman
Jérome Thomas: Moonlight Serenade
And CONTEMPORARY repertoire (a very odd genre of music, in my opinion, but whatever floats your boat):
Donald Martino: A Set for Clarinet (arguably the hardest song written for Clarinet)
Stravinsky's Three Pieces for Clarinet
Smith's 5 pieces for Clarinet
Berio: Sequenza for Clarinet
Nielsen Clarinet Concerto (This is also considered classical, but many contemporary elements as well)
Copland Clarinet Concerto ( This has a few jazz elements, but ultimately Copland's effort to write a "Jazz Concerto" for Benny Goodman was a failure, and while it is popular, it is definitely not jazz, although it contains a few jazz and classical elements)

What is unique about the clarinet?
The clarinet is a single reed http://www.answers.com/topic/woodwind instrument. Clarinets come in many different sizes, with different pitch ranges. Though there are more than a dozen different modern clarinet types, the most common ones used in orchestras and bands are the B flat and A clarinets. The bass clarinet, which is much bigger than the standard and has an upwardly curved bell, is also frequently used in modern bands and orchestras. Other clarinets include the A flat, B flat, and E flat sopraninos, alto clarinets, contralto, and contrabass clarinets. The standard clarinet consists of five parts-the mouthpiece, the barrel or tuning socket, the upper joint, lower joint, and the bell. A thin piece of cane called a reed must be inserted in the mouthpiece before the instrument can be played. Different notes are produced as the player moves his fingers over holes and metal keys which open and close air holes in the clarinet's body. Mozart was the first compose to put clarinets in an orchestra most wooden clarinets come from Africa
What are the notes for go fight win on a B Flat clarinet?
ll: G-B-C-C#-D-G-G-B-B-C-B-C-C#-D-G-G-F-F-E-F-E-D-C#G-G-G--G-F-E-D-E-F-G :ll
You repeat back to the beginning each time getting faster and faster until you can go your fastest. The last 7 notes, or the notes in between the two G's (G--F-E-D-E-F--G) should be played fast like sixteenth notes. But watch your speed, if you go to fast to the point where the notes come out sloppy, the song will become unappealing after awhile.

Is a bundy 577 selmer resonite clarinet a good instrument?
I would stay clear of any Selmer Bundy instruments. I got a clarinet and a flute of the same make (I'm stupid) and they both were terrible. I finally have better instruments now. A buffet Festival which is a professional model. For a clarinet for a beginner though I would recommend a Buffet beginner model. Also Leblanc instruments are good too.
My friend has a selmer bundy 577. I've played it a fair bit. It's the best student clarinet tone I've ever heard and it blows very easily. Oddly, the barrel is a bit loose on most mouthpieces (except the one it comes with). After trying his, I went clarinet shopping and tried all the Bundys they had in local stores (not 577s though) and they were all very unspectacular. Since they are student models, I imagine that quality is more variable than the pro models, but, like my friend, you might just get lucky.
What are all the different types of pop?
tones There are all types of pop such as: grape, cream soda, root beer, orange, faygo, pepsi, dr. peper, and coke.
Is the violin or clarinet harder to play?
Well it depends. In clarinet, you have to blow to get your musical notes. In violin, you have to just move your bow across a string. I would probably say a clarinet is harder. You have to blow and waste your breath!
A second Opinion...
Well, realistically I would say violin is harder because in clarinet the notes are all there for you. In violin you have to find the notes by ear and shift the position when the music says to. Plus, most violin players do the vibrato. You also have to hold the violin near the shoulder or on it. Clarinet you just have to hold it with hands which is much easier. The violin is also deemed the hardest instrument to play.
I disagree. When you play the violin, all you have to do is move your hands. When you play clarinet you have to, controll embachure, cover the holes, and maintain good air. So clarinet is hands down harder.
How do you describe a clarinet?
The terms for the clarinet are basic musical terms. It actually depends what you are looking for. If you are talking about high and low, you could say up or down an octave.
Trill- when you go back and forth from two different notes at the suggested speed.
Slur- when you go from one note to another and then to another WITHOUT using your tongue to separate the notes.
There are many different scales and exercises to warm up. Most scales can be played in different octaves. The octave key is on the back above the thumb hole. to look at more terms, get a beginners book. All high school and middle school bands start with the beginners book. If you are looking for something specific let me know.
How do you play someone like you on clarinet?
I can sometimes translate piano notes into clarinet notes. Someone I know plays piano and I can translate her songs onto my clarinet. You should try doing what I do and if that doesn't work then maybe you can just stick to listening to Adele's fantastic music without playing along. I hope I could help!
