How big is a bass clarinet?

Between 36" and 42" depending on which company made it and if it has a low-C, low-Eb, or low-E range.

It's possible to extend the height with the floor peg on some models as high as 5'+ at the mouthpiece but that's due to the height of the peg, not the instrument.

A good rule of thumb for the height of things, door knobs and window sills are about 3' from the floor. Stand a bass clarinet on the floor without the peg extended and it's just about the same height (or a little higher) as a door-knob.

How does music play a part in religious ceremonies?

Singing to the Lord or music in general is a form of worship. When you sing in church, you do not just sing and join the choir, but you prasie God with your voice, music, and rhytm. It's amazing how many people (mostly unbelievers) can sing their hearts out to worldly music, even jumping and raising their hands, but they can't even sing to praise the Lord who gave up His life to save theirs. What a shame. ;

; Exodus 15 : 20-21 : And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels ...... ;

Psalms 150 : 4 : Praise him with the timbrel....... :

What can clarinets be made of?

Clarinets are most often made from African blackwood. This is a heavy black wood that comes from the Mpingo tree. The same is used for most oboes and wooden piccolos. Second most common would be plastic or resin. Clarinets were also made of metal at one time and are still seen occasionally. Some clarinets are now made of a mixture of resin and wood. Other woods such as cocobolo and rosewood are sometimes used. Boxwood was the material of choice for the earliest clarinets.

What is the value of a 1968 Buffet R13 Clarinet Serial 79749?

Difficult to say how valuable it is.Sorry, but there is no way to answer this question without seeing the actual instrument. There are so many things that go into the value of an instrument. Materials, overall condition, previous owners, condition of the pads, etc. Take the clarinet in to a local repair shop and ask for an estimate of value.

That clarinet was made in 1962. I had one in mint condition; sold it as a trade in for $500 to a dealer. But the above writer is correct. I bought it new, rarely used it and repadded it brfore I sold it.. The condition of a 45 year old horn with a lot of use, cracks etc. could knock the price way down. I see on eBay Buffets from the forties going for $150. to 250...sampark2

Jazz players who used the bass as one of their primary instruments include Eric Dolphy and Benny Maupin. More famous names who occasionally played the bass clarinet include jazz clarinetist Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington's bari sax player Harry Carney, and jazz flautist Herbie Mann.

Me too - but I'm not exactly famous.

How do you translate sheet music into letters?

If the piece is played in the Treble Clef (it looks like a reflected "s," the & symbol or a fancy "g"), then, from the bottom to the top, each horizontal line in the staff stands for the notes EGBDF, respectively. A good mnemonic device for this is "Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge." :) The four spaces in between the lines stand for the notes FACE. Each instrument has different ways of producing a note. It's up to you to memorize how to make each sound. The black note symbols, depending on their placement and shape, tell you what sound/note to make, and the length of the sound.

This is sheet music reading in its most basic form. There are many symbols in sheet music reading, but ultimately one just has to memorize their meanings and learn to manipulate his instrument accordingly.
