The "home row" on the keyboard is where your hands should fall by default for touch typing. This row consists of asdfghjkl;. Your left hand fingers should lay on asdf and your right hand fingers should lay on jkl;. Home row numbers is a keyboard mapping popularized by the USPS data entry system in which the numbers 1 through 0 are mapped in order on the home row. The A key is also 1, the S key is also 2, etc. This allows the typing of numbers without lifting or moving the hands off of the home row, thus allowing for greater speeds and accuracy.
