Your computer has a black screen so you have changed the CPU and the memory you have also changed the monitor and the harddrive and am still getting a black screen with no beeps?

I would try changing the video card. This would have been the next logical step after changing the monitor. Unless it is possible to change the cable between the monitor and video card in which case the next step would have been to change the cable.

What does controllers mean in computer science?

A controller is a device that controls another device. The simplest example is a game controller. It is used to control action in a game.

Then there are electronic controllers. They are IC chips that are used to provide control logic for electronic devices. A floppy drive would be connected to a controller chip that produces the control signals needed for the drive to operate.

Then there are microcontrollers which are essentially small computers on a single chip with limited functionality. They would be used in appliances, vehicles, implanted medical devices, etc. Some operate as slow as 4 KHz and only handle 4 bits of data.

How can you make your eMachines computer faster for free and with no downloads?

You can add more memory or upgrade the CPU if you can get those for free. You can uninstall programs that you don't use or don't know what they are for. You can run the disk cleanup program that comes with Windows and defragment the hard drive. You can also disable certain Windows services and disable a lot of the visual options.

You should also double check your BIOS options to see if they are correct. For instance, if you have a hyperthreading CPU, you would usually want to enable that. If there are ultra-DMA options or larger hard drive block sizes, you would generally want to enable those.

It does help if you are willing to download things. For instance, you can upgrade your drivers or firmware if necessary, and there are a number of decent free utilities. There are free adware removal programs, startup editors, registry cleaners/packers, etc. Plus Microsoft has a DMA reset tool to use when Windows refuses to use ultra-DMA modes on a drive that can use them.

How do you troubleshoot 'The NTLDR is missing' error message?

*First, you need to get your installation CD and then place it in your hard drive and restart your system.

*After restarting the system, you will get message "Press any key to enter setup". So, follow this message and press any key, this will take you to the setup. However, there could be some different scenario as well depending on your bios setting. This is because of the fact that if you have not given priority to your hard drive then it would not boot in this way. For this, you need to change your boot device priority and its better that you set this priority to your CD Drive.

*Once you enter the setup and it loads the entire program, then you need to press the R key, which is for repairing the windows installation. This action will take you to the dos mode where further processing will be done. In the dos mode, system will ask you about installation place. Most of the people install their operating system in the C drive, which comes at number 1 option, so you need to press option 1. However, if you have so many partitions or you have installed the operating system then you need to choose the option according to your drive name. Here you need to enter your password as well, but if you have not set any password then you can simply press enter.

*Then there will be a c:\WINDOWS> command in a dos mode where you need to write, "Copy d:\i386\ntldr c:\windows. However, if you have different place of your installed operating system then you will write the address of that drive. This is the whole process and now you can eject the CD and can press exit to restart the system. Now this process will copy the correct NTLDR file from installation disk to your hard drive by making your system in the working condition.

Should you compress hard drive if its not?

In my professional opinion, I do not advise compressing a drive. While it may get you some added storage, the risk of data loss is too great. The reason being that the compression algorithm used by Microsoft in each of their versions of Windows leaves much to be desired. Essentially what they do is create a gigantic file in which the computer stores everything that is the entire size of your hard drive. So, while you still look at it as if it were your C: drive, it is actually not the C: drive in its natural state. The bad thing is that if something corrupts the "shell" of the compressed drive, the everything inside is lost. This is similar to a hard drive developing a bad sector but instead of just one file being compromised, everything goes away.

What I would advise if you want to make room on your computer is to move any unnecessary data off to optical discs (CDs or DVDs) or invest in an external hard drive and move the unneeded data to that drive. If you choose to compress a drive and store your data inside it, make sure you either have a backup copy elsewhere or that you are willing to lose anything you put inside that drive.

Your computer shuts down for no reason- CPU runs at 100 percent then shuts down with no warning?

You have at least two problems. First one is some software puts a lot of load on your CPU, you need to find which software does that (use the task manager). Second problem is you do not have effective CPU cooling system. There are many different solutions. The cheapest one is to replace the thermopaste between the CPU radiator and the CPU. If it did not help, you need to replace/clean the radiator. It's possible that you might have to install more fans inside of your case.

Information in the computer that cannot be changed by the user?

If you cannot change information in a computer, that information is in a type of read-only memory (ROM). The system BIOS is one such type of information. That contains the code needed to allow the computer to operate at all. CPU opcodes and microcodes are another type of data that cannot be changed by the user. These are usually hard-wired and are electrical in nature. Then there are typical CDs. WORM-type (write-once, read many) CDs and pressed CDs cannot be changed after they are created.

Your lap top keyboard is stuck in the Fn mode eg key K outputs 2 not k so how do you switch it back to normal keyboard mode?

Okay, look for a button that says "Fn lock" It will most likely be printed off-color (like all the other Fn keys) This works just like capslock does for capital letters. Pressing Fn & Fn-lock simultaneously should unlock the Fn mode.

Another way with laptop key boards is to press the numberlock key . This seems to switch off nos. appearing for letters

When you boot the computer it ask for the current time and date and hangs what is most likely the problem?

Just about every computer keeps some information about itself internally or on the motherboard. This information includes the current time and date and a built in clock keeps it current. It does this with the help of a battery sometimes called a BIOS or CMOS battery. This battery lasts a few years but eventually will run down. The battery needs to be replaced.

The battery is on the motherboard, has a shiny silvery color, is about the size and shape of an American quarter or nickel and may be secured with a small clamp or spring. You may need a small screwdriver to carefully remove it. It should be replaced with an identical or compatible battery type. The type is inscribed on the battery. If it can't be read refer to information that came with the computer, the manufacturers web site, or just search the web for your computer model and include "CMOS battery" in the search string.

If the computer is a laptop or notebook device, accessing the battery is much more complicated and there is a greater risk of causing damage to the device. You should have a competent person take care of it.

What Buffer register saves the instruction?

It is employed to hold temporarily the right hand instruction from a word in memory..

For example, The IAS machine's basic unit of information was a 40-bit, so that two instructions could be stored in each 40-bit memory location. Each instruction consisted of an 8-bit {operation code} and a 12-bit address.

Hence the IBR (Instruction Buffer Register) is used to temporarily hold Right hand instruction for the next use.
