All species of hermit crab need to have access to both freshwater and saltwater. You will need to provide two water dishes for the crabs.
The dishes should be deep enough for your crabs to submerge, but make sure they are able to get out. If you have large and small crabs together, you can put small rocks or a small sponge in the water dishes so that it is deep enough so large crabs can still submerge themselves, but small crabs will not become trapped in the water dish and drown. You can buy aquarium salt for marine fish (not freshwater fish) from most pet stores and a little goes a long way. Never use table salt because the iodine in it is poisonous. Most hermit crab brand salts are also table salts. Use a brand like Instant Ocean, Oceanic, etc. The water needs to be dechlorinated. The chlorine, chloramines and heavy metals in most tap water can kill hermit crabs by causing the gills to blister (causing eventual suffocation). Aging the water will remove the chlorine, but not the chloramines, so dechlorinator is a must if you use tap water. However, Zoomed water conditioner is not effective and should not be used. If you don't want to dechlorinate tap water, you can use spring water instead. However, make sure nothing has been added to the water. For example, Dasani water contains magnesium sulfate "for taste", and that is bad for the crabs.

Was the 8 legged crab you saw in a Florida estuary actually an arachnid?
Crabs are not arachnids, they are decapods. Decapod means '10 legs', it is just that crabs and some other species have specialised pincers on the front pair, meaning they only walk on 8. However the pincers are technically legs.
How have humans helped the clown fish?
None at all. All our effects are negative. We are warming and polluting the oceans, making the marine habitat more dangerous for all sea creatures!
Does a male human have ovaries? No.
Roe are not ovaries. Whereas a female crab's roe is composed of her eggs, a male crab's roe is his sperm. This is why male and female roe have different taste and consistency.
If male crabs did not have roe, crabs would not be able to reproduce, and they would die out.
Do stone crabs grow legs back?
Arrow crabs have 5 pairs of legs and can regenerate any of them when it molts and sheds it's exoskeleton although it may take several molts to completely regenerate it.
No, horseshoe crabs belong to the multicellular, eukaryotic kingdom Metazoa. Single celled organisms are typically very small and quite simple.
Who does the blue crab cooperate with?
other than humanns blue crabs compete with Seagulls, Raccoons, Sea star, to get clams and starfish, oyster drill snails, stingrays, Florida stone crabs, birds, such as oystercatchers and gulls, as well as humans to get oysters and other scavengers and herbivors for plants and dead fish
What if you don't have a new shell for your hermit crab?
It will either stay out of it's shell or have a shell fight with another crab to take its shell.
I do not recommend letting your crab have no shell for very long though, it makes them very vulnerable and stressed out making them a good target for other crabs to harm.
Average size of a hermit crab?
baby hermit crab is usually 1 and a half inches They start out life in the ocean less than the size of a pinhead and swim around for a time before they settle to the bottom and pick up their first shell and move to land.
Absolutely! And a higer and evolved species, we should stay away from this "so-called food" entering our body stream.
The Opilio Crab seems to be the most expensive type of crab...

Biologists have identified various species with very limited evidence of aging, like some rockfish, lobsters, etc; which feature they might refer to as "limited senescense." There does exist the suggestion that despite the absence of other limiting factors, size itself may impose a limit on the organism's functionality, at some point they will grow too large and be unable to support their own bulk. Anecdotal evidence exists for a dead crab's shell recovered which was several feet across estimated to have lived for hundreds of years.
In many living organisms including humans, a mechanism exists when cells undergo division, wherein the replicated DNA in the nucleus has a specific amount trimmed off the end (telomere), somewhat like the aglet on the end of a shoelace. After a certain number of replications when the maximum amount has been trimmed off the DNA "unravels" and the cell goes into senescence, or the cell self-destructs (apoptosis).
Do crabs and lobsters live in the bottom of the ocean?
Yes. There are many species, and some are found in all seas, even the polar regions.
Which is better the crab or scorpion?

if either is smaller the other is victorious
Do crabs eat shrimp in aquarium?
Its all related to size. Crabs will eat anything they can ge their claws on. So if your shrimp are large and your crabs small they will be ok. But if you have larger crabs than shrimp, your shrimp will be lunch
How long does it take a moon crab to grow a limb back?
How long it takes a hermie to regrow a lost leg depends on many factors. In order to grow a leg back, they must first begin to grow the new leg as a gel limb. This will be a clear to whitish little blob that will eventually become a whole leg. They then will need to molt. Molting is when they are growing larger and outgrow their exoskeleton (hard outer skin). They will need to load up on water (especially salt water) and food, then bury in damp sand to shrug off their old skin and start growing their new skin. They will eat the old skin to help grow the new skin. After a little while, they will emerge from the sand with shiny new skin. The amount of time it takes for a molt depends on the conditions it is molting in, how long they have gone since the last molt and the overall health and size of the crab. A grape-sized crab can take anywhere from 2 weeks to over a month to do this, where a lemon sized crab could take 3 or four months or more! While a crab can grow a whole new leg in only one molt (I just had a large do this), the new leg may be shorter and/or thinner than the others and it may take as many as 3 molts to get it back to where it was before in terms of size & strength.
How does a horseshoe crab get food?
Diet in the wild: Feed on worms, mollusks, and seaweed (algae) found in the sandy ocean bottom.
