What is the value of a Townley American Boy 16 Ga shotgun?
Depending on the condition, a single shot would bring between $25 and $90 and a double barrel from $100 to $250.
Are old Crescent shotguns safe to shoot?
Some are, some aren't. If it has Damascus or Laminated steel barrels, do not shoot it. They were never intended for modern powder. Fluid steel or later production barrels may be safe, but if there is rust, dents, or other signs of high wear do not try it until after it has been inspected by a competent gunsmith.
I own an old ,early 1900 or older 12 guage hanover arms shotgun, given to me in hanover,pa.It has outside hammer triggers and a twisted steel barrel
What is the value of a Champion 20 gauge choke single barrel shotgun?
Since there are no IJ collectors bidding these up unless in like-new original condition, it is worth from 1/2 to 2/3 the price of a new single shot or about $45-$60. Or even less if it is rusted or broken. But then, if you can add a few dollars worth of electrical parts to a rusty one, these are offered as floor lamps for $300 or more.
I have the same shotgun, only a 20 gauge, left to me by my Grandfather. It was the first firearm I ever shot. My Dad caught me in his arms as it blew me 4 feet backwards. Loved it and hit the oil can on the fence post too!
I am researching the shotgun as a hobby now. If I find anything on these shotguns, I will let you know. I have to send this one to a gunsmith, as it is well used and loose at the break. May just leave it as it is...a great memory.

The only markings I've found are a serial number, a '12' stamped forward of the forestock, 'Columbia' on the left side, and patented Aug 11 18?6. AnswerTo Whom it may concern, Just today I inherited a 12 gauge Columbia shotgun. My Grandfather told me it belonged to his Grandfather. Seeing my Grandfather was 90 years old when he died last year, it must be very old.It is in decent shape and Iwish to restore it. If there is any info out there concerning these guns I would love to know their history. He lived his entire life in Fountain Inn, SC. Any info would be much appreciated. Sincerely,Answer
I also have a single shot 12 Gauge COLUMBIA shotgun with 4 patents on it dating from 1891 to 1902. It has a 12 inside a circle on the underside of the barrel just ahead of the forearm. I could not find any other identifying markings on it. It has a 30 inch barrel and an external hammer and a breech release located behind the hammer. It appears to be a breakdown model, but the lift up release pin is missing as is the butt plate. This gun could have been made by Crescent firearms company or by H C Squires, or some other manufacturer unknown to me. I would be interested in selling it, but I do not know its value. Bids would be welcome. I would appreciate any info about the gun.
AnswerVariations of this name were used on single shot shotguns by several makers.Columbia - W. H. Davenport Arms Co. 1891-1910
Columbia Arms Co - Trademark owned by Henry Keidel & Co. Baltimore, Md. 1866-1978
Columbia Ejector - W. H. Davenport Arms Co.
Columbia Single - Harrington & Richardson Arms Co 1872-1985
Columbia Single - W. H. Davenport Arms Co. (will have company name marked on upper and lower tangs)
Columbia Single - Hopkins & Allen Arms Co. 1868-1898
The one with the August 11, 1896 patent date is definitely a Davenport. If you have an external side hammer, it was probably made from the 1880's to about 1910. If it is hammerless or the hammer is centered in the action, most likely after 1900 and as late as WWII.
AnswerI have just received a 12 gauge single shotgun from a great aunt. The left side plate has "Columbia" engraved in it. The right side plate has what looks like an patch box from an old muzzle loader rifle on it. The patch box is opened then the lid can be turned to remove a bolt which allows the rifle to come apart. On the barrel under the breech is "Patented Oct.2 1894 - Aug. 11 1896 MODEL 1885. There is the number 12 stamped in the barrel just ahead of the forearm, bottom of the barrel. Can I assume that the gun was made between the patented dates? Anybody sure of the manufacture, or where I can find out more info? The patent dated August 11, 1896 was owned by W. H. Davenport Arms Co., which was in operation from 1891 to 1910. It had to be made sometime AFTER the last patent date since there is no way the manufacturer could have known in advance when his patent would be approved.

Trade name sold by Shapleigh Hardware of St Louis. Manufacturers included W H Davenport Arms (1880-1910), Crescent Fire Arms (1893-1930), and J. Stevens Arms Co (1920-1940's).
According to people who buy and sell, the older .410's are worth twice as much as the 12 gauges, so I'll say it could be $300 - $500. But they seem to stay on the shelf a long time when marked at that price.
What is the value and age of 12 ga. nitro hunter shotgun?
Nitro Hunter: Trade name manufactured by Crescent Firearms, Norwich, CT, and retailed by Belknap Hardware Company of Louisville, Kentucky. "Nitro" implies that it was intended for smokeless powder. Iit was probably manufactured c. 1907 - 1930's. Not much collector interest in hardware store guns, but if it is checked out by a qualified gunsmith, it may be worth $65-75 as a shooter.
The crown & scepter suggests British origin as does the name Patrick. If it is really percussion (muzzle loading) and not a breech loader with side hammers, it would date from after the invention of the percussion ignition system about 1832 to the general acceptance of the "modern" self-contained cartridges in the 1860's. The silver escutchion was for the original owner to have his name or initials engraved and is usually one sign of a "better" gun. Does it also have extensive engraving on the receiver and/or fine checkering on the wood? I have no information in my files for a maker named Patrick and my on-line source for data on UK manufacturers (internetgunclub.com) appears to be down.
Where can you find a Springfield 16 ga double barrel shotgun?
I've just agree to buy one from a friend. It seems they show up from time to time. I've seen a few at the C&G guns shows that travel the south. Why do you want one? Almost any Ranger, Western Field, JC Higgins, or Riverside box-lock double will be identical to a Springfield. All are made by Savage/Stevens and many are even marked with the same Stevens model numbers.
What is the value of a 12 gauge Nitro Hunter single barrel shotgun?
MOST I HAVE FOUND ARE FROM $100-$200---LET ME KNOW IF IT IS FOR SALE
Crescent made millions of single shot shotguns marked with hundreds of different trade names from 1892 to 1931. There are no records available to determine the exact age of any particular gun. Value is minimal - $20 if it is busted or rusted, maybe $120 if it is almost unused.
How much is an Oxford Arms Co 12 ga double barrel shotgun worth?
Shooter value only. Oxford Arms was a trade name used by Belknap Hardware for guns distributed by H.D. Folsom and made by Crescent Arms. There is no collector's interest.
This weapon was manufactured by the maker of the MAC10. I have an over-under derringer by FMJ Ducktown, TN. It is a 22cal under and a 410/colt 45 over. Some infomantion is under LEINAD which is Daniel spelled backward. Also COBRAY. JD

Where can you get new or used barrels for a Stevens model 345 20 gauge shotgun?
Try Numrich or Bob's Gun Parts. They are both on the web.
How much is a No 15 Imperial Ejector 12 gauge single shot made by Crescent Firearms worth?
Less than $100, probably a lot less. If This gun is so old - how come its not worth much? *1. Millions of them were made. *2. It not all that old, just a little older than me. *3. They are utility guns, not fine handcrafted collectables. *4. You can buy a new single shot at Walmart for $79.95 - with a warrantee.
What is the approximate value of a JC Higgins model 36 22 cal in pretty good condition?
the model 36 is the last in the line of auto-loading .22 rifles. in good condition the value is only around 75.00. grab a book or check a website and find out what the condition actually is. like most older things that are collected there is a standard chart for determining condition as accepted by most buyers. your "pretty good" condition may be an excellent condition and then the value will increase to as much as 175.00 depending on your area.
How old is a double barrell 410 exposed hammers shotgun?
The first thing is :Does it "open" with a lever so a shell can be placed in the barrell? If so, It could be from 1915 back to the 1880's. If it does not "open" then it is a muzzeloader and must be loaded from the front of the barrell. These usually start in the 1880's and go back to the 1700's. There are "Reproductions" of old guns that may look old but are not. Any good gunsmith can tell you...............Mossygeramp
Where can you find a stock and forearm parts to a Crescent 12 gauge number 15 single shot gun?
I have a Crescent Firearms 12 Gauge Victor Ejector. I do not know if it is a Model 15. How can I determine that feature? The Serial Number is 774337. gunstocks inc in IOWA Gunstocks Inc. E-mail Address(es): info@gunstocksinc.com
Seems to be a misprint in the Blue Book. Model 335 is listed twice, once as 67500 produced 1912-1932 and again as 2000 made 1926-35. If you find the Savage Arms website, I believe you can get an address for the Stevens historian who should be able to give you an exact year of production for a $15 fee.
Sears never actually made firearms. During the 1920s and maybe '30s Sears owned a gunmaking firm outright, which mostly made pocket pistols, but other than that guns sold by Sears were made by other manufacturers and sold under the Sears or J. C. Higgins name. The Long Tom was a cheap single-barrel shotgun sold from the 1890s to the 1920s. It was probably made by the Batavia company in Batavia, New York. They made a lot of shotguns for both Sears & Montgomery Ward. Unless the metal's in absolutely pristine condition, it's probably not worth finding a stock & forearm for it. It'll cost you about as much to have the thing restocked by a gunsmith as it would cost you to buy a new, much more reliable single-shot shotgun. If you're determined & you're a skilled woodworker, Dixie Gun Works (www.dixiegunworks.com) has stock and forearm blanks for sale. If you have all the hardware--& you're a skilled woodworker--you can probably make some of their stuff fit. TexasCharley -- Meridan Firearms -- Meridan Firearms is the manufacturer that was owned by Sears for a brief period. They did make pocket pistols, but also single-shot and double-barrel shotguns and boy's rifles which were sold not only by Sears but by other catalog stores as well (Wards for one). They also imported Belgian shotguns. Sears sold the Meriden plant to Westinghouse in 1915, and it is believed gunmaking stopped at that time.
Where can you find info on a J Stevens model 416 hex barrel and its value?
22 long rifle bolt action manufactured from 1937 to 1942. Some were manufactured as US military training rifles and if marked US Property they will sell for a large premium. The Blue Book gives values of $70 in 60% and $140 in 100%.
