Where can you find a stock and forearm parts to a Crescent 12 gauge number 15 single shot gun?

I have a Crescent Firearms 12 Gauge Victor Ejector. I do not know if it is a Model 15. How can I determine that feature? The Serial Number is 774337. gunstocks inc in IOWA Gunstocks Inc. E-mail Address(es): info@gunstocksinc.com

How old would a J Stevens Arms Company 12 gauge double barrel shotgun be with the serial number 84089 and model number 335?

Seems to be a misprint in the Blue Book. Model 335 is listed twice, once as 67500 produced 1912-1932 and again as 2000 made 1926-35. If you find the Savage Arms website, I believe you can get an address for the Stevens historian who should be able to give you an exact year of production for a $15 fee.

Did Sears Roebuck make the shotgun called the Long Tom and where can you get a stock and forearm for it?

Sears never actually made firearms. During the 1920s and maybe '30s Sears owned a gunmaking firm outright, which mostly made pocket pistols, but other than that guns sold by Sears were made by other manufacturers and sold under the Sears or J. C. Higgins name. The Long Tom was a cheap single-barrel shotgun sold from the 1890s to the 1920s. It was probably made by the Batavia company in Batavia, New York. They made a lot of shotguns for both Sears & Montgomery Ward. Unless the metal's in absolutely pristine condition, it's probably not worth finding a stock & forearm for it. It'll cost you about as much to have the thing restocked by a gunsmith as it would cost you to buy a new, much more reliable single-shot shotgun. If you're determined & you're a skilled woodworker, Dixie Gun Works (www.dixiegunworks.com) has stock and forearm blanks for sale. If you have all the hardware--& you're a skilled woodworker--you can probably make some of their stuff fit. TexasCharley -- Meridan Firearms -- Meridan Firearms is the manufacturer that was owned by Sears for a brief period. They did make pocket pistols, but also single-shot and double-barrel shotguns and boy's rifles which were sold not only by Sears but by other catalog stores as well (Wards for one). They also imported Belgian shotguns. Sears sold the Meriden plant to Westinghouse in 1915, and it is believed gunmaking stopped at that time.

Where can you find info on a J Stevens model 416 hex barrel and its value?

22 long rifle bolt action manufactured from 1937 to 1942. Some were manufactured as US military training rifles and if marked US Property they will sell for a large premium. The Blue Book gives values of $70 in 60% and $140 in 100%.

Is there any history on Crescent Firearms double barrel 12ga peerless model?

You won't find history of any particular Crescent double barrel model. They basically made one or two models and marked them with whatever name the retailer wanted. Well over 100 different trade names have been found on Crescents. The company was formed in Norwich, Ct, in 1892 and bought by H&D Folsom Sporting Goods the following year. Around 1926 Crescent was sold to Stevens (which was already owned by Savage) then merged with NR Davis (which they also purchased) to form Crescent-Davis Arms. The Crescent name disappeared completely about 1932.

What years were Crescent firearms made?

Crescent operated from 1893 to 1930. There doesn't seem to be any source to pinpoint dates of manufacture by serial numbers. Crescent was a subsidiary of H&D Folsom Sporting Goods, New York. Many of their products were sold through Folsom's retail outlets, but Folsom was also a large wholesale dealer and many Crescent guns were marked with the names or trademarks of other retail chains and even independent hardware stores. Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co, Chicago (1882-1962), retailed the Victor shotguns which were manufactured by Crescent Arms, Norwich, CT (1893-1930).

Where can you get a stock for a Crescent Arms mod 60 410 gauge double shotgun?

You might would try "DIXIE GUN WORKS" out of UNION CITY, TENNESSEE, they have a butt stock that I believe can be fitted to most any old Crescent Double. They do carry a variety of different butt stocks and if they don't have an exact match, if you do much wood working or know a good gunsmith they probably have somthing that could be easily match to fit your shotgun and still retain an original look.

Where can you get more info about a Victor Crescent 4-10 Gauge shotgun?

How much are a Sterlingworth 12 gauge and a 20 gauge double barrel shotgun worth from around 1900?

The value varies widely with condition and gauge. I think that prior to 1912 only 12 gauge sterlingworths were made. The 20s (and 16s)began production in 1912 or 1913. Usually the earlier ones are worth a little more than later (after about 1930) ones. A 12 gauge from the early years in near-mint condition would be worth around $2000, an average 12 would be in the $1000 range and one in poor shape (broken stock, pitted barrels, dents in barrels, etc) ordinarily would be worth more like $400 to $500. Twenty gauge prices corresponding to these would be about $3000, $2000 and $1000.

What is known about a Crescent Belgium double hammer fin fire double barrel shotgun with WF Co stamped in the buttstock with a large brass ring affixed to the buttstock and what is the value range?

Is "fin fire" a typo for "pin-fire"? If so, I'm certain that it is not a Crescent shotgun and even more confident that it was never used by Wells Fargo Co. I would guess that someone tried to increase the selling price of an inexpensive double by adding the Wells Fargo stamp and a saddle ring. Have the barrels been cut off, too? There are so many shotguns with fake WF Co markings that no informed collector will pay any premium for this mark unless it is accompanied by a bill of sale listing the stage company as the buyer or seller and positivly identifying the gun. It would probably sell for $150-$250 as a wall decoration for a yuppie's rec room.

Where can you find information about a firearm marked Stevens Favorite 22 long rifle model 915 and the vaule?

That would be "1915," not "915." It replaced the 1894 Favorite. The Favorites are popular. In well-used condition they bring $100; in great condition they can get into the $300 range. Just about any gun guide (Flayderman, Blue Book, etc.) gives lots of info about these popular Stevens rifles.

How old is a Peerless 12 gauge double barrel and what is its value?

Answer I also have a 12ga. peerless model, and yes I do shoot it to this day.I use it dove hunting, when I can't hit anything with my other gun I grab the old double and I swear I can't miss with it. They are a great shooting gun.But like the other person said it needs to be a later model. If you can find an oldtimer gun smith they will tell right away if to shoot it or admire it. Use only short brass and 6-1/2 to 8 shot. Mine used to rattle if you held it in one hand and kinda twisted it back and forth.I was lucky enough to find an old gunsmith close to my home and he fixed it to near perfection and told me to go and have a good time shooting a fine gun and that's what i will do as long as i can.I HAVE A PEERLESS MODEL 12 GA. HAMMERLESS THAT BELONGED TO MY GRANDFATHER ,MY UNCLE WAS ALLOWED TO HUNT WITH IT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 1925, MY UNK., SAID IT WAS AT LEAST 20 YEARS OLD THEN. THE BOOK SAYS 1888 TO 1892 AnswerIt could have been made anytime from the 1880's to about 1945. An early gun would have laminated barrels and probably large side-hammers. These should be retired and hung over the mantle unless you want to reload your own short, black powder shells. If was made later than about 1930, it will probably be a hammerless gun with fluid steel barrels and at least 2 3/4 inch chambers. If checked by an experienced gunsmith these might still be used with light loads. Between these dates it could be either. Value of these old utility doubles is usually between $150 and $250 for either a decorator or shooter. AnswerI ALSO HAVE AN OLD PEERLESS MODEL, 12 GAUGE DOUBLE BARREL. MINE IS MARKED NORWICH, CONN. USA. IT IS ALSO HAMMERLESS. AT BEST A LOOKER. MY ONLY PROBLEM IS THE BUTT STOCK ON THE RIGHT SIDE HAS A PIECE OF WOOD MISSING RIGHT NEXT TO THE BREAK. I HAVE CALLED ABOUT FINDING A REPLACEMENT BUTT STOCK WITHOUT ANY LUCK. SO I GUESS THAT SHE'LL JUST BE A LOOKER. I DID FIND ANOTHER PEERLESS MODEL ON THE INTERNET A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. THEY WERE ASKING $250.00. I THOUGHT THAT WAS A LITTLE HIGH. UNLESS IT WAS IN GOOD/VERY GOOD CONDITION.

Where can you find information about an old single shot that says Victor Crescent Firearms Co?

There's not much information available. Crescent made several million single and double barrel shotguns from 1883 to 1930. They marked them with at least 200 different trade names, Victor being one of the more common ones. Singles usually sell between $25 and $75, depending on condition, but they were only $3-$10 when they were new.

What is the approximate age and value of a double barrel gun with double hammers that is marked only Bayard Arms and has no serial number?

This was a trade name used by Anciens Etablissments Pieper in Belgium 1894 and later. Importing utility shotguns from Belgium pretty much ended when WWI started in 1914. Making any exposed hammer double barrel shotguns pretty much ended about the same time. This gun may have short (2 9/16") chambers and damascus barrels, and if so it will not be safe to use modern off-the-shelf ammunition. Value is primarily determined by how well it looks over a yuppie's fireplace, usually between $150 and $250.

Did Crescent Firearms make the Plymouth double barrel shotgun?

Where can you find information pertaining to a double barrel shotgun marked A Greener of Belgium?

W. W. Greener was a high grade English gunmaker in the 1800's. Doc Holiday was carrying one of his doubles at the OK Corral. Belgian manufacturers would put similar, sometimes identical, names on utility grade shotguns for import to the US. There's no history or documentation on many of these, but Joe Vorisek has documented 'A Greener' as a product of Henri Pieper, Leige, Belgium.
