Crows
Crows are In the genus Corvus and are large passerine birds. All temperate continents with the exception of South America and a few islands including Hawaii have examples of the 40 members of this genus. Genus Corvus appear to have evolved in central Asia and migrated out into North America, Africa, Europe, and Australia.

How did cockerels get their crow?
It is natural for cockerels to crow, they start practicing at about 4 months old. Crowing is communication. Roosters use it for a variety of reasons. They call to the hens to warn them of danger, to lead them back home and to reassure them he is on duty.
He also uses his crow to challenge other roosters.

I have 6 chicks that are 4 months old today and cinco started to try to crow a few weeks ago uno started crowing today. You can tell by there names I can count in Spanish in the order they hatched.. lol Cinco's crow isn't what you would really call a "Crow" like he or she is trying but isn't getting it down yet so I am hoping that she's a male impersonator (which I have read are out there) seriously. And Uno's crow is an A+ rooster crow like he hold his head high and really belches it out. Definitely a rooster Mr. Cogburn (John Wayne movie) lol Hopefully this helped you.
