I have a similar situation. My best-friend is 19 and I am 15. I can talk to her about anything. Even girl stuff she will discuss with me. So basically we are like brother and sister. We get mad at each other and then soon enough we are not mad anymore. Now on the other hand, I have a really big crush on her and she has known this a little bit after we first met which was about 2008/2009.

If he looks at you like you're his sister, he will act as any brother would. He will protect you and stand up for you when you can't. He will also mess around with you such as little pranks and whatnot. In the end, he will act as a brother would.

If he likes you, he will tease you such as calling you shorty and other types of thing but not in a mean way. Eventually he will ask if you are free on the weekend because maybe he wants to take you out to a movie or out to eat or maybe even something simple like going to a park and just walking and hanging out. Also he will start to hold you with him behind you and his arms wrapped around your waist. Over time (varies on time with different guys) he will get more physical with you such as grabbing your butt and such. When he does that you know for sure he likes you.

Now he doesn't really have to ask you out for you to know that he wants to be your boyfriend. If you and him have been going out together to movies and stuff like that at least once a week and that keeps happening then you and him have something going on. Now I will advise you that when you get to the dating stage, DO NOT invest a lot in him. In other words, do not get to attached to him because when you guys break up you will be really f**cked up emotionally. I learned that the hard way.

So it really can go both ways. Most of the time guys in this situation like the girl and see them as their best-friend or sister. This is the best answer I can give you and I really hope this helps you.
