What is a freewheel or freehub?
Freehub. When gearing inevitably wears out, with the freehub you only change out the gears (cogs or cogset). With the freewheel you replace the entire assembly, including the ratcheting mechanism and bearings. OTOH freewheel assemblies can be found rather cheap, so the economy of of it isn't that clear-cut. A more definite reason is that freewheels leave more of the axle unsupported, (the bearing is located closer to the centre of the hub) which makes freewheel wheels more prone to broken and bent axles if you want to run 7-8 speeds.

It's called testosterone, unfortunately all boys have it, and it make you do stupid things. Riding too fast and jumping over things etc. Not that girls don't do those things too, but males have been known to do such things on a pretty regular basis.

A nutrient cycle (or ecological recycling) is the movement and exchange of organic and inorganic matter back into the production of living matter. The process is regulated by food web pathways that decompose matter into mineral nutrients. Nutrient cycles occur within ecosystems. Ecosystems are interconnected systems where matter and energy flows and is exchanged as organisms feed, digest, and migrate about.
What are some disadvantages of bike lanes?
Unless they're planned in from the beginning, they steal space from the other lanes, making them narrower. And it's also common that they'll start and stop in strange places, leving riders stranded in mid-traffic.
A badly planned bike lane is often worse than no bike lane at all.
It varies each year (scheduled outside of Indiana University home football game weekends....due to the availability of hotel/motel rooms in the area. At each reststop (they are numerous) there is entertainment, food, and drink.
How have bike racing cycle helmets changed over time?
Early racing helmets were made out of stuffed leather tubes and looked something like a string of sausages placed in lines over the head. But once the step was made over into Styrofoam helmets design changes have been more down to colors and graphics. Today there are four types with a distinctly different look: 1) Time Trial (TT) and track helmets. Drop shaped with sort of a tail tapering off down the back of the rider. They often have integrated visors and no air vents. They're more about aerodynamics than protection. 2) Full Face or DH helmets. Plenty of padding, some vents and an integrated arch that protrudes in front of the jaw to offer face protection. 3) Dirt/street helmets. Fairly round helmets with a sturdy plastic outer shell. The only kind that'll keep offering decent protection even after a fall. 4) ordinary fitness helmets. Plenty of air vents, no face protection, maybe a small integrated cap. Is meant to be scrapped after any significant fall.
If You rode a bike for 30 minutes and burned 190 calories how many calories did you burn per minute?

Does a bike chain apply torque?
Yes. The chain applies a linear force to the cog on the rear wheel. It pulls it forward when we "go" on the bike. The teeth on the cog, where the linear force is applied, are arranged around the center of rotation of the rear axle. This applies a force to the axle that is "off center" with the axis of rotation of the axle. The axle is perpendicular to the plane of the cog, and this is true. But the actual "pull" of the chain is on the back teeth and the top teeth of the cog. The axle cannot move forward because it is fixed, but the axle can rotate because a good portion of the force applied to it causes it to turn. A bike chain applies torque to the rear wheel. Torque is a momentary force, and in the case of the bike chain, a continuous series of moments of force applied to the rear wheel by the chain turns the rear wheel. Another way to look at the problem is to consider that the feet move up and down (and a little forward and back) on the pedals. The crank and chain ring turn around. The chain moves in a line or displays linear motion, and the rear wheel displays rotary motion. The transition from linear motion to rotary motion applies the idea of torque.
