The capital city of Cyprus is Nicosia, located right in the center of the island. However, it is divided between the Republic of Cyprus (Greek) in the south and the Turkish North, with a UN-patrolled demarcation zone running between the two halves.

Akrotiri and Dhekelia are two British Overseas Territories. They are both located on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. After Cyprus became independent from British rule, they were still accepted to own a small part of the country's land due to its strategic military position. Akrotiri is at a cape in the island's south, near Limassol. Dhekelia is on a bay in the south-east of Cyprus, between Larnaca and Famagusta. Together, they make up for 3% of the island's area.

Some of the best sea turtle nesting beaches are on North Cyprus! In May, the female turtles lay their eggs in the sand, and two months later, their tiny hatchlings make a dash for the sea. The best way to see turtles is to join the Society for the Protection of Turtles (SPOT) at Alagadi Turtle Beach, where you can watch the turtles and support their conservation at the same time.

Cyprus has snow regularly each year; the mountain region of the Troodos is a skiing resort.

Cyprus is an island nation, so cannot be reached overland. It is reached by air from a number of locations around the world, or by ferry from the Greek port of Thessaloniki.

Cyprus denied to join the Schengen Area because it fears it will do harm to the nation. However, Cyprus is legally bound to join the Schengen Area, so it will in the future as will other European Union nations who haven't yet joined.

"Diko" can refer to different things depending on the context. In some cultures, it may denote a traditional dance or music style. In other instances, "Diko" might refer to a name or a specific brand. Without additional context, it's challenging to provide a precise definition.

I wouldn't think Cyprus are allies with the US considering the US are allies with Turkey and Turkey with the blessing of the US invaded Cyprus.

There aren't any canals

Cyprus has a lot of national heroes, but there two heroes from the last years, named, Tasos Isaak (Τάσος Ισαάκ) and his cousin Solomos Solomou (Σολωμός Σολωμού). Tasos Isaak was killed 1996 while protesting for the freedom of Cyprus by the turkish extremists, grey wolfs, and by the turkish police. Solomos Solomou was killed some days later on the funeral of Tasos Isaak while his was taking off the turkish flag from the UN-Bufferzone by the turkish military. So how you can see they died for their country, so they are national heroes for Cyprus and for Greece. And how you can see too, Turkey has made an illegaly action, they was against the law and killed to civilists. And I hope Cyprus will be free again soon! Long live Cyprus! Ayia Napa is a resort on the Southern end of Cyprus. It is famous for its sandy beaches. Apart from being a family destination, it has become a "party capital".
