More than likely these antagonists were enemies taken from the "Mighty Crusaders" comic books published by Charlton Comics but then were acquired and reused by DC Comics in Alan Moore's graphic novel "Watchmen" .

Damage Per Second. It basically means a character who takes upon the damage role. The damage role is basically intended for the player to try to kill as many mobs, or monsters as they can, and generally deal a lot of damage.

Jack Napier killed Bruce Wayne's (Batman's) parents when Bruce was 11. Then later he became the Joker when Jack fell into green poisonous acid then it made Jack white and crazy.

That I'd like to get two or three of the New 52 graphic novels for my birthday, ... definitely aquaman. batwoman is really good too.

Batman comics can not be read on line for free usually. Though amazon and the library do occasionally allow them to be borrowed.

It would make more sense to see the movie with the origin story for Batman first. The Scarecrow has a cameo at the beginning of the second film, so the viewer would be more familiar with what is going on if they had already seen him as an important character in the first film. The film is probably able to be followed okay by itself, but it is a sequel expecting the viewer to already have seen the original.

The initials "DC" came from the company's popular series Detective Comics.
