How was technology back in 1912?

Following the industrial revolution that ended in the late 1800's, the technology of 1912 was changing rapidly due to many new engine designs that were used to run things that helped our lives. Henry Ford was making what are considered to be modern automobiles by that time. Many houses had electricity that powered lights and radios were just starting to become useful but there still were not radios in every household. Airplanes were being developed as useful machines for war, transportation and other aerial jobs, however none of these things were in widespread practice yet. Many households had telephones and could call across the country but the service was still very limited. With the widespread use of anesthetics in the mid 1800's, medical technology was advancing rapidly and people were able to undergo surgery with a much better rate of success than before however, most of the modern medical technology we know today did not happen until World War I and II due to the massive casualties and doctors developing methods to treat the wounded. 1912 would have been a time of seeing many new ideas and innovations that had potential for the future but did not apply to people's daily lives at that time.

How did technology influence World War 1?

The enormous casualties suffered on the Western Front proved the destructive power of modern weapons. Machine guns mowed down waves of soldiers. The shrapnel, or flying debris from artillery shells, killed or wounded even more soldiers than the guns. Poison Gas blinded or choked its victims or caused agonizing burns and blisters. Then tanks, airplanes and submarines were very effective during the war.

What happened during the summer 1919?

Red Summer describes the race riots that occurred in more than three dozen cities in the United States during the summer and early autumn of 1919. In most instances, whites attacked African Americans. In some cases groups of blacks fought back, notably in Chicago, where, along with Washington, D.C. and Elaine, Arkansas, the greatest number of fatalities occurred.[1] The riots followed postwar social tensions related to the demobilization of veterans of World War I, both black and white, and competition for jobs among ethnic whites and blacks.

What did the tsar do to make the situation worse?

The main decision that led to the Tsar's ultimate downfall was his decision to join the war. This decision drained and overstretched Russia's limited resources, especially food, and the military was destroyed. As a result, a large portion of the population suffered from starvation. This angered the people and they rallied around Kerensky, after the 1917 March revolution. Kerensky's crippling was also his decision to continue the war against Germany, and this ultimately led to the rise of Vladimir Lenin.

What would a 1910 complete set of Funk and Wagnalls New Standard Encyclopedias be worth today?

Unfortunately, old encyclopedia sets are not in demand. Practically no one collects them. Most people use the internet to search for knowledge and facts. I would say that you would be lucky to get five dollars for them.
