Things did not cost much more than today, maybe about 30-40 cents difference.

About 50p in a country pub where I worked (Stow upon the Wold) although some houses were as low as 40p for a good draw. Been out of country and live in the states now and was horrified last year when I bought my first pint in Southampton.

As I recall, in Cardiff in 1961it was about 1s and 2d a pint, i.e. about 6p a pint

Peter Durand was the first to use tin to preserve food. He improved on the technique originally founded by Nicholas Appert. Appert's original technique of food preservation involved glass jars. Durand altered Appert's technique by using thin sheets of tin-coated iron to hold food.

In general, the highest priced Garbage Pail Kids cards are those from Series 1 and 3 that have been professionally graded as mint condition. The first card in the first series, Nasty Nick, has been known to fetch the highest consistent price on eBay in mint condition.

Mostly arcade games, Pac-Man, Galaga, Centepede, and so on. Atari games (mostly those based of arcade games) were very popular during the early '80s. Around 1985 the Nintendo Entertainment System was released which became very popular among the youth, games like Super Mario Bros, Castlevania, Zelda, and arcade based games were some of the biggest hits.

Not a great amout to be honest. The main difference between now and the 80s is that the 80s had a individual style in itself, wheras now there is a focus and interest on 'vintage style' clothing. There has been a large emphasis on past eras since the start of the decade. Alot of the fashion at the moment is based on 1970s influences; the 'boho' look. But there are some similarities as there are influences from the 1980s style, such as oversized Tshirts with leggings. x

In 1978 I was 18, newly on my own, and renting my first apartment (for $195 a month). One day my tiny black and white portable TV was blown off the kitchen window sill by a gust of wind and broke (perched on the kitchen window sill with the antenna pointed out the open window was the only place in the apartment it would pick up a station). I was without TV for several weeks until I saved up enough money and bought the least expensive new color set I could find, a portable 19" RCA XL100 for $325 "on sale!" at K-mart. What luxury. The big floor model color TVs (25") with a fancy wooden cabinet were around $600, which was way out of my price range. I'm sure the prices were about the same in 1980.

Retail has progressed substantially in the past 20 years. Chip and pin, and card readers were a future possibility - writing Checks (or UK Cheques) were the main cash alternative, on line shopping and supermarkets delivering were not really heard of until the 90's. There were no E-shops available like eBay and amazon, the weekly shop was a nearly always grocery - then companies like asda (UK) tesco (Europe) and Walmart introduced more high street fashion as the millennium approached.

Millions and millions may have been sold. As the world is developing more and more people use computers and laptops more. Also laptops and computers which were earlier costly and very big, now have become cheap and small.

Frank Sidebottom and Tom Thug were characters that appeared in "Viz" magazine, a British adult comic that started in the late 1970s but gained popularity in the 1980s. Frank Sidebottom was a character with a distinctive large papier-mâché head, created by Chris Sievey, while Tom Thug was a violent and aggressive character featured in various comic strips in the magazine.

For the year 1970, you would have to go with the Boston Bruins, who won the Stanley Cup in four games.

The Boston Celtics were also very popular during that time, winning the NBA championship a year earlier.

Very popular in the 80s is when the 1st wrestlemania happon (1985). This was the 1st decade that Starrcade Became very well known

We skateboarded, played tennis, rounders and went swimming and of course had the latest chopper (bicycle), played with our friends. Also we went sliding in the snow down big hills in the winter.

Margaret Thatcher was the British prime minister throughout the 1980s.

The Boston Celtics did win the 1981 Championship. They defeated the Houston Rockets four games to two. Cedric Maxwell won the MVP for the series.

In one game at one time, there can only be 10 people on the court, 5 from each team. There can be 12 active players on each roster, which means there could be 24 people total that could play in a basketball game.
