What if your dentist gave you a prescription for nystatin cream she told you to clean and dry your upper denture then apply cream to denture then put denture in your mouth on the tube it says for exte?

Apparently you have some type of yeast infection in your mouth. Your denture is contributing to the problem. A small amount of nystatin will not be harmful if swallowed. Make sure you take the denture out at night when you sleep. After a few weeks, the infection should clear up and you can stop using the cream. Let your dentist know if the infection does not clear up.

Do your Teeth hurt a week after bridge prep?

If you still have the temporary bridge in, it can be somewhat uncomfortable. However, it should be slight, not severe. If it is severe see the dentist. The temp may need to be adjusted. Once the permanent bridge is placed, you should have little to no pain soon after the bridge is placed.

Why take an antibiotic for the dentist when you've had a knee replacement?

I'm slightly confused as to if the antibiotic was prescribed by your dentist or if the antibiotic is used in dentistry and was prescribed as a result of a knee replacement. Assuming the latter is the case, antibiotics are not location specific, they're bacteria specific. If you have an infection in your mouth, Penicillin will help to clear it up. That same Penicillin will help to prevent an infection in the knee after surgery.

What happens after you get your wisdom teeth pulled an army health clinic?

It has been my finding (Ft. Jackson, S.C.) that most army surgeons and dentists are as well qaualified as any (local, private) oral surgeon. I wouldn't hesitate, regardless of whatever medical or dental concern I had, to have an "Army" medical/dentil practioner perform that which is needed. IMO, only.

Regards, Jim.

My dentist extracted a back tooth and bone came with it?

that happens sometimes. dont worry...it should fill back in as it heals.

Within my mouth I have teeth that are pretty healthy. I have one wisdom tooth it is fully grown the others were removed 10 years ago. I am 39 should I remove it dentist think it is okay to stay?

There are plenty of reasons for removing wisdom teeth: They won't fit in your mouth and when they erupt they will change/damage your bite They are in a strange place and when they try to erupt they will place pressure on other teeth or other structures in your head/face/mouth The have become impacted, and cannot erupt, and possible can become infected and cause you a number of very painful conditions. A healthy wisdom tooth that fits into a healthy mouth probably doesn't need to go anywhere else. Happy smiling!

What does silica do to teeth?

It doesn't do much

This answer is wrong. Sorry But it is. After brief research i found this at "http://www.holisticwebs.com/cancer/silica.pdf"

By hardening the enamel, silica prevents cavities and preserves teeth. Silica also prevents bleeding gums, gum

atrophy, and recession that causes the loosening of teeth, which could ultimately lead to tooth loss. Vegetal silica

effectively fights caries (ulceration and the decay of a bone or of a tooth) and inflammation.

Crystalline Silica causes silicosis if inhaled but Silica does have positive aspect as well i suggest you read the whole pdf.

Can a theeth x ray tell your dentist that you smoke?

Technically, no x-ray of the teeth can tell your dentist if you smoke or not.

But...

X-rays will show signs of bone loss which is most likely due to periodontal disease. Periodontal disease has two types; gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is the inflammation of the gums and is reversible with professional dental care and improved dental hygiene. Periodontitis is inflammation of the gums that results in loss of the bone that supports the teeth and is only remedied by professional dental care.

Periodontal disease has long been associated with smoking, meaning people who smoke are more likely to have or develop periodontal disease. Because you smoke doesn't necessarily mean that you HAVE periodontal disease; smoking has been shown to increase the severity and speed of onset of periodontal disease.

What is the different between anatomical crown and dental crown?

An anatomical crown is the visible part of a natural tooth, made up by dentin covered with enamel. A dental crown is a prosthetic crown crafted by a dental technician.

A dental crown can be made as a full porcelain crown, but in most cases it is made by covering a metal cap with porcelain. The metal cap is used to give the tooth extra structural strength (especially in case of molar crowns) and can be made from metal alloy, gold alloy, or zirconium oxide (a mineral).

Why is top of jaw sore and stiff from wisdom teeth extraction?

It is sore from the trauma of removing the tooth and it is stiff probably from the swelling. Your doctor probably gave you a prescription for the pain. If not, ibuprofen should help.

Could you have dry socket if you got an extraction and the socket looks empty but hurts too much and will it heal if it does not have a blood clot?

FIRST THING you should do is follow your dentists advice about caring for it after you leave his office. It will heal; here are some tips to help healing- DO NOT use a straw to drink; the suction you create to sip through a straw will cause possible bleeding and slower recovery. Dont chew directly on it; try soft foods for a while. After eating, some food particles may wander into the socket. Dissolve a tablespoon of table salt in a small glass of water (not hot, not cold,) then gently rinse your mouth to remove food particles and bacteria. Then go to a GOOD pharmacy or even a healthfood store and get a bottle of "Oil of Cloves". A few times a day, put a few drops of this oil into the dry socket. That will help with the pain and increase healing time. Having a "dry socket" after an extraction is VERY common. Hang in there! GOOD LUCK

Yellow puss from wisdom teeth being cut out?

Your mouth could possibly have a very large infected boil in it. That is disgusting btw.

When can you eat hard cereal when wisdom teeth are out?

You should be able to begin eating "hard" foods roughly 3-5 days after the extraction process. It is, however, more recommend to do a step up program. Here is an example:

  • Day 1: Soft foods or liquids only: Jello, Yogurt, Milkshakes, Soups, etc
  • Day 2-3: Soft foods to moderately hard foods. Soft cookies, Breads, etc
  • Day 4-5: Moderately Hard Foods to Harder Foods. (Normal Diet, unless still tender then visit Days 2-3 until you're ready).

Do Teeth Gap Teeth Effect Bands really work even for really big gaps and will the gap return if you have a piece of skin between your teeth that people usually have cut in surgery?

I am going to try teeth band effect but I just left my dentist yesterday and she informed me my only way to close my gap is through an orthodontist to get braces or invisalign. I had braces because my gap was really big and the little skin in the middle is a muscle. In order to permanently close your gap is to remove that muscle by having a minor surgery, a frenectomy (I paid about $600). i then got braces but never wore my retainer after and it open up, NOT AS BIG THOUGH but now i plan on using the rubber bands to close it then go to the orthodontist to get a small wire behind my two front teeth to keep it in place. I also had that done but it came off and i failed to get it redone. I have heard a lot of negative feedback about the rubber bands. In your case it would definitely not be a permanent solution, you would need the surgery and the braces. Insurance can possibly cover a portion of the surgery and the braces you can pay monthly, that's what I did, i was 16 paying for my braces at about $109 a month for two years, that's how bad I wanted to close my gap and I know how insecure it can make you feel. You probably feel like you are never going to get it done but little by littel, start withthe consulation of the braces and get the braces first, you could then look into the surgery becasue they can do it with your braces on, I did it like that...Put your mind to it and do it, the outcome is a relief. GOOD LUCK!

The dentist pulled your tooth with out telling you Can he do that?

NO, you need to know your options...could you have received a root canal to save the tooth...did he give you the option of an Implant?

Why do dentists use anaesthetic and sedation during hospital procedures?

If some one were to drive a drill into your mouth, rip out a tooth, cut your mouth with a scalpel and in general muck about with pointy and painful things, not only will this hurt like God has forsaken you but while you are in pain you may thrash about and make it difficult for them to work and possibly do serious damage to your health, by the same token you might freak out from shock and harm the dentists, and if you go into shock it is quite possible to die from it.

Can your gums get infected because a piece of paper is stuck in it?

Yes, if the paper is harboring bacteria then you can get an infection. If you get the piece of paper out soon though it won't become infected.
