User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Try baked ripe brie cheese wheel (in pastry or not) and serve with water crackers and crisp, but ripe, sliced fresh pears. Pears are ripe when still firm but the stem end gives slightly to mild pressure near the stem. Spread brie on crackers or on pear slices to eat. Use as first course or last course or appetizer or on buffet.

Is there a recipe for Sand Cake?

User Avatar

Yes. You can use a regular white or yellow or vanilla cake. (It is fun if, after baking, you put it in a large - but clean - sand bucket or pail). Use white icing or some marshmallow fluff on top, and sprinkle with crushed and ground up graham crackers. You can add some rock candies or shell candies for effect, too!

What is spumoni ice cream?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Spumoni is three types of ice cream in a row, three fruit flavors normally. Not True !!! In Canada, Neopolitan ice cream is a block of three equal portions of flavours, Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry. Italian-Canadians brought with them their special version of Neopolitan, called Spumoni Ice Cream Dessert ( first seen about 40 years ago ), rich in various fruit flavours of ice cream, with tons of fruit chunks and chopped nuts, instead of just the plain vanilla and chocolate ( non-fruit ) portions of Neopolitan. It was so much richer than Neopolitan ( 3 Flavours ) and loaded with calories. Of course, it cost much more too. Every family I knew would buy Neopolitan ice cream and, at home, for very special occasions, would add various mouth-watering syrups, whipped cream sometimes, fruit and nuts. Later, when we heard about Spumoni, we thought that Italian Spumoni was just a commercial copy of Mom's great homemade ice cream dessert. The popular American Banana Split can be thought of as a very simple and humble version of Spumoni, though made only with vanilla ice cream, since it has a topping of nuts and banana fruit.

Are there different kinds of croissants?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Originally the Parisian croissant was a sweetened bread dough in a crescent shape; not a leavened laminated pastry. These days 'croissant' refers to the laminated yeasted pastry variety. Some people add almonds to the outside (almond croissant), or a small bar of chocolate to the middle (if the croissant is still crescent shape, it is a 'chocolate croissant' - if it is rolled in an oblong shape, it becomes a 'pain au chocolat').
