Where to find the serial number on a wheelchair?

Typically Wheelchair SN's are found on the frame of the wheelchair. Most manufactures Like KARMAN provides this on both the box and also on the frame of the wheelchair. They are typically with the model number and can be confusing at times, however a good manufacture should have an owners manual that explcitly shows this for end user ease of accessing the information.

Please see page 4 as an example

If a wheelchair van owner has no insurance on their vehicle what insurance coverages are covered by the fully insured drivers own insurance if they are a caregiver of the owner?

Insurance follows the vehicle. If the owner of the wheelchair van has no insurance on it, and the person who drives it, has insurance on their own vehicle.... then the wheelchair van would still be considered an uninsured vehicle. Again, insurance always follows the vehicle. The driver who is not the owner cannot use his/her insurance to cover the wheelchair van because they have no 'ownership' or 'insurable interest' in the van.

If your parents are first cousins and they have disabled children will you have disabled children too?

The risk for first cousins to have disabled children is the same odds as people who are not related so this depends on if there's a hereditary reason on one or both side of the family or what other reason the disability appeared. Disability can be many things. Speak to your parents and ask your doctor so they can test if this is something hereditary in your genes.

Is postpartum depression a disability?

At the current time I and various other Doctors are unaware of any state in the United States, that would consider Postpartum Depression a disability, since most cases of this type of depressive state are temporary and very mild in contrast to more severe or permanent Psychological/Psychiatric Disorders; such as various types of Psychosis, Bipolar Disorders or Schizophrenia to give a small range of examples. These types of psychiatric disorders are permanent and disruptive to the life of the patient, therefore, allowing that person to file for disability claims because they can no longer function in society without assistance.

It is possible for someone to enter into a Depressive state FROM Postpartum Depression, however, most doctors are now more than ever, keenly aware of what symptoms to look for in new mothers allowing doctors to properly treat or prevent their patients from falling into severe Postpartum Depression. I hope this answer somehow helped you. Best Wishes.

In most wheelchairs, you simply take hold of the seat in the centre of the front and the back of the canvas and pull upwards. How does same-sex marriage affect disability benefits in Texas if you marry in California?

The US Social Security Administration ("SSA"), which administers Social Security disability benefits ("SSDI") will only recognize a same-sex marriage in states where it is valid under state law.

Consequently, although your marriage in California will affect eligibility for SSDI in California, it will not currently affect eligibility for SSDI in Texas. However, Texas' ban on same-sex marriage has been declared unconstitutional in federal court and the matter is on appeal. So, if the lower court's ruling is upheld, your marriage will suddenly become valid in Texas and your continued eligibility for SSDI benefits will be affected.

Note that same-sex marriages currently DO affect federal tax filing status in all 50 states and abroad.
