How do you train a 2year old dog some tricks?
Depending on what tricks you want to do, use lots of treats, voice commands, and hand signals. Keep training the dog consistantly, until they got it down and you no longer need treats. Keep practicing regualrily after that so they don't quistion you or forget.
Example of how to train your dog to roll over:
Get them to lie down (they should all ready know this), then roll them over onto there side, saying "Roll over" and scratch there belly and feed them treats. Next, repeat the process and turn it onto it's back, and soon all the way over. Keep doing it until it gets what you mean by "Roll over"
Always use treats, voice commands, hand signals (they help alot), and contact with your dog. The younger they are, the easier it is to train. It shouldn't be to hard with a 2 year old.
How should you handle your dog circling when he is excited?
A dog pacing or circling when their excited isn't something to be worried about,it's normal and unless their causing some form of destruction/peeing or tripping people right from left there's nothing to handle Lol,their just happy.
My brother's dog is a rotty anytime she's happy or she needs to go to the bathroom she'll spin around Lol.
So if you want to make the circling alittle more job appropriate teach your dog with a clicker to only do it on command or when she needs to go to the bathroom.
Otherwise, just let her/him be happy Lol.
How long can you leave a dog in the car with the windows down?
it depends on the outside temperature and if the air conditioning is running. Most dogs would say "not long".
What are the steps to getting a service dog in Michigan?
A person must be legally disabled to use a service dog so the first place one would go is to their dr to document that they have a substantial impairment of one or more major life activities and hopefully get some documentation of this.
They would then decide whether they'd like to apply to an agency to provide them a dog or if they can owner train their own.
If one applies to an agency there are varying requirements as to cost of the dog, retention of ownership with some, and waiting lists. They will want to contact or see proof from the doctor that you qualify for a service dog.
If one owner trains they are responsible themselves from beginning to end for all the costs, the quality of training and even if a dog is not working out. While you will not have an agency checking if you meet legal disability requirements, for your protection you'll want to maintain documentation that you are legally disabled and if possible that you will be using a service dog. This is in the case you have to prove in a court of law that you are legally allowed to do what you are doing. You'll also want to keep documentation as much as you can about the effective training of the dog. Also note that states make the rules about where a dog in training may go. If your state does not allow an owner trainer to take a dog into public places you will need to train only where dogs are allowed until the dog can meet the basic federal requirements for a fully trained service dog. Once these requirements are met, the dog can complete it's training in public places.

Dog growling at other dogs unsocially?
Your dog needs socialized if it is doing this. This is also common in small dogs.
Why does your house-trained dog now go inside by the cat litter box and beside the toilet?
It sounds like your dog is marking due to the ammonia smell of the litter box and the toilet. Make sure you clean up with a non-ammonia based cleaner, and keep the litter box clean, or out of the dog's reach. If you can't do that, you might clean the box thoroughly and switch to a different litter. Hopefully that will help. If your dog is an un-neutered male, they are also more likely to mark, so neutering will probably help.
The Pekingese needs to be socialized to the family and taught that it is NOT the dominant alpha. All dogs can and WILL bite if they feel threatened, are hurt, or are not properly socialized.
How do i stop my American bulldog from eating everything and jumping on people constantly?
give toys to the american bulldog to keep him/her preoccupied. to stop biting everything completely you have to do strict training. It is in their nature to bite everything. If you dont want your american bulldog to jump on people. You have to first teach the dog that you dont find it okay if he/he jumps on you. Whenever the dog jumps on ownr or the family it is best to knee the dog slightly (not hard or abusively) eventually the dog will learn that it is not okay.
How can you start up a successful dog walking business Any tips?
l your neighbors and tell them if they have any friends with dogs, to tell their friends.
Dogs are trained by discipline and reward. When your teaching your dog say the command move the dogs body into the position you want then repeat the question, remember to always after each command give the dog a treat. continue with that then after a certain period of time the dog will understand and then do the command. be generous with the treats.
Younger is best. But every time they use the bathroom in the house rub there nose in it and pop them on the butt and say no and put them outside
The best way to train dogs are to train them when they are younger, and use a lot of treats and lots of encouragement/praising. Old dogs can learn new tricks but it is a lot easier to teach them when they are younger.
To start off training your dog...
- Gather some treats, give your dog a few of them to know that you are going to give him/her some when they perform a command. Have your dog on a leash, using a metal choke collar.
Sit..
Have a treat in your left hand, leash in your right.
First- Face your dog and say the sit command in a powerful tone, at the same time you say "sit", place one hand on the dogs back just above the tail and one hand on the dogs chin. Push down on the dogs but and pull up the chin making it sit. When the dog sits give them a treat and praise them (not in a baby tone though). Repeat this until the dog can sit on its own. And give the leash a little tug if the dog doesn't listen.
Lay Down- Your dog needs to know sit before they learn to lie down.
First- Have your dog sit. Then Place one hand on the dog's back between the shoulder blades. While pushing down on their shoulders say the command and push them down to a lie down position. There are other methods of doing this.
Come- Have a treat and your dog on the leash.
First- face your dog. then start slowly back pedaling and calling your dog to come. If your dog doesn't budge then give the leash a little tug. When your dog starts following you, praise them and keep back pedaling and calling them to come. Once your dog has mastered that then take him/her off the leash and do that exercise without the leash.
Remember to always praise your dog when they have completed a command. Never scold them if they are unsuccessful with a command simply say no and try again. Training should be completed on a daily or weekly basis to ensure that the dog is adequately learning.
There are a lot of resources out there to learn about training dogs- including books, seminars etc. I have a passion for working with dogs and I wanted to make it my career, so I attendance an academy for professional dog trainers. It's honestly the best thing I've done-- I learned so much at the school. There are also some online courses that you can take to further your knowledge on dogs and dog behavior. The school I attended is offering such a program... www.dogschoolonline.com
The best way to train dogs is with lots of treats. Dogs love food and mine will do anything for a tiny bite of food. If you want to train them sit just push down on their butt, saying sit, and once they are sitting give them a treat. For things like shake just grab their paw, saying shake at the same time and give them a treat. It only takes labs and retrievers about three days to be taught a trick.
Never hit your dog with a stick when training it. Put a leash on your dog in till it won't run off. teach your dog how to do its duds outside and not inside.
People write whole books on the topic and only touch the surface. If you want to learn to train a dog, enroll in a good basic obedience class with your dog. A good class will teach you some basic training theory and help you to apply it in real-world situations.
While there are things to be learned from books, there are two critical skills to dog training that you cannot learn from books and can only learn at the side of a skilled trainer. Those two things are: reading the dog's reactions and intentions and timing reinforcement and corrections.
The easiest was to explain it would be constant repetition, positive reinforcement, and consistency.
Reward like crazy, all of the acceptable behaviors like going "potty" outside, not barking at guests, not jumping on people, etc. Use treats (small ones) and praise the dog and give attention when the behavior is 'good'.
Ignore and scold - do not hit- when the behavior is bad. Stick to the pattern and let the dog out regularly for 'breaks' so that YOU prevent accidents while the pups bladder grows to accommodate holding it for less frequent, more regular trips out.
Also, it's important to give the dog plenty of toys to try out and praise the dog when it chooses it's toys over, say, your shoes. Prevent your belongings from sitting within reach of the pup until you can focus some time on giving the pup the choice of your possessions or it's own toys and reward, reward, reward the correct choice.
It's a time commitment, but if done early on, it will make dog ownership a very gratifying experience.

you can buy special tasting treats or push them to do what u want them to do?
Pomeranians do shed quite a bit. They are a Spitz type dog and have a lot of hair. Aside from regular day to day shedding they also blow (or shed all their undercoat). They need daily brushing to keep their coat from getting matted as well.
Write a courteous letter to your neighbor whose dog annoys you by barking at night?
tell them about it and ask for a reply of wut they will do about it
You might be able to by putting spray designed for that on the pad, although some dogs are so well trained that it is difficult to make them do that. There are now products that can be used indoors or on patios that look and feel like grass, but can be easily hosed off.
If you google the words "dog grass" you will find several of those products.
Your dog wants to be with you that's why he/she is acting that way. Why don't you play in the back where your dog can play with you? That way the dog is happy, the fence is not damaged, and you get to play.
If you want your dog to learn to get your attention through barking ( which most people prefer the opposite of because it can get out of hand) then you should start by praising her every time she barks. eventually she will associate this with getting your attention for things. you can also try training her to "speak" on command, though I wouldn't know how to do this since I have had no luck with my dogs in that area. once you've got her knowing that she can get your attention through a bark and knows how to speak on command, whenever you take her outside, first ask her to speak, and whenever she comes back inside, ask her to speak first. if you are consistent in this it won't be long before she is barking to come in and out. If like me you have trouble with teaching your dog to bark on command, try lots of extra work with praising her and giving her your attention for barking. eventually she will probably associate this with any time she wants something, going in and out, getting fed, getting water, going for walks, being petted, being played with. be aware though that you might be about to create a very yippy dog.
My Yorkie loves just playing with my cat and they usually get along, although sometimes my cat gets annoyed with him.
How can you stop a dog from jumping on furniture?
If a dog was allowed on furniture as a puppy, the harder it will be to stop this behavior. The dog will have to be leashed inside the home until any attempts to climb up have been removed. As the dog approaches a chair, bed or other furniture, gently tug on the leash BEFORE the dog reaches its destination and say a firm "no". If it knows "no" to other things, it should not take too long before the dog makes the association.
How can you teach your adult lab to swim?
Make water fun! Is he toy motivated? If so, get him very interested in the toy and then toss it into water that only goes up to his lower legs if that. Most dogs will do into that. Another way is for you to wade out into water maybe up to you knees and then call to your dog. If he comes to you, give him a cookie and praise. Also, every time he touches water (with the exception of drinking it) praise, play, or give a cookie. Now, that'll have most dogs okay with water they can stand in after a while. If you want him to swim as in not touching any ground, that's a little harder. What I would do may seem cruel but honestly it's not. Get the dog on a leash, and simply go into a pool holding the end of it. Most dogs that don't like water will not follow, or won't go past the steps. Put pressure on the leash. If he doesn't swim off the steps, go back, feed a cookie and then swim out again. Say "George, come!" Or whatever the dog's name is. Then, you need to pull the dog *gently* into the water if he still doesn't come. Once he is in, give him a cookie and praise. Wait until he stops thrashing and then let him climb out. Do the entire process again. It's a lot of work, but this will work over time with almost any dog.
