Horses have their own agenda and have their own way to decide who is boss and who is not. The Alpha animal will assert it's self within a very short amount of time. It will probably be a mare and it will not depend on which one is the biggest. Most times biggest has nothing to do with who will be the boss. After the Alpha animal is decided on the remaining ones will all find their place in the pecking order. To some people this seems strange but horses have had this system for millions of years and it works pretty well for them.
