What is the off spring called of a female donkey and a male horse?
A Mule. Mules are also sterile. (Unable to reproduce)
This depends on the donkey. It is instinctive for many herbivores may feel trapped in small or enclosed spaces because it is natural for them to flee if there is danger nearby, and a closed space prevents them form doing so. However, animals such as donkeys have been domesticated for a very long time and are naturally pretty calm. The reasons a donkey may be afraid of an enclosed space is probably because:
1) It has never been in a pen before and just needs a little time to get used to it, or
2) It was abused and it associates a pen with something frightening or painful.
Most donkeys are not afraid of enclosed spaces, but like all large mammals, they should always be given the option to go to a larger space like a pasture so they can live a healthy life.
How do you properly restrain a donkey?
To restrain a rabbit, you can do one of two things:
1. grab it by the scruff of it's neck. Similar to how a mama cat grabs a kitten by it's neck. This way the rabbit cannot bite, but watch out for those hind feet! They can still, and will, kick up and scratch you!
2. this is a little bit trickier, and should only be used if absolutely necessary. There is a certain spot near the hips (it is actually the loin area) that will keep the feet at bay and the teeth away. Here is how you find the spot: Follow the spine back until the pelvis prevents any further. Put your thumb on one side and your middle finger on the other. Move both slightly below the spine past all the "meat". Do not squeeze too hard or you will hurt the rabbit!
I have handled certain rabbits who are extremely aggressive and I have had to use both of these methods together, but again only use them when absolutely necessary.
a professional opinion...Never pick a rabbit up by its scruff. A rabbit can buck so hard when handled this way that they literally break its back. Rabbits shouldn't need serious restraining anyways. Simply holding them correctly and securely should do.
Can you castrate an adult donkey without harming him?
Yes, adult male donkeys (jacks) can be castrated, but extra care must be taken. In castrating (gelding) any male donkey, the blood vessels should be ligated (tied off) to prevent excessive bleeding.
How do you make miniature donkeys?
By Selective Breeding. This is when you pick out the certain animals, and breed them and breed them until they have certain charectoristics.
Why do donkeys eat their own poop?
This behaviour could be a result of many deficiencies in the diet, it is best to lay out a salt and mineral block to help. Make sure that they have ample amounts of water as the extra salt may make them more thirsty. If they continue to eat their feces have your veterinarian examine them.
No, a zonkey cannot reproduce because the zebra has 46 chromosomes and the donkey has 62, therefore they do not have the ability to reproduce.
What is the size of a donkey's heart?
Check the average scale. I was told the have 4 chambers like us.
an average donkey is pony size, so about 3 to 4 feet tall at the shoulders. (usually)
It really depends on the breed of donkey. You can have "mammoth jacks" that are horse size, regular donkeys, and mini donkeys too. They come in all sizes.
Can donkeys eat the same as horses?
Donkeys and horses can eat similar types of food, such as hay and grass, but their nutritional needs differ. Donkeys require a diet lower in calories and protein due to their slower metabolism and tendency to gain weight easily. It's essential to avoid overfeeding donkeys with rich grains or lush pasture, which can lead to health issues like obesity or laminitis. Overall, while their diets can overlap, it’s crucial to tailor the amounts and types of food to each animal's specific needs.
unless you have a garden of over an acre at very very least .. no lol
its the same as for a horse really.
What does a donkey like to eat?
Donkeys eat similar to horses. They do not need to be fed as much as overfeeding a donkey could cause laminitus. They love to eat hay, sweet feed, carrotts, vegs and all that stuff. You welcome :).
What is the offspring of a horse and donkey called?
Mules are sterile--they won't mate with a horse, a mule, a donkey, or any other animal. They aren't breedable. That being said, there are two cases known in which a mule mated and gave birth to another hybrid. There isn't a name for a mule/horse hybrid because it's so rare. The actual animals were named Blue Moon and Lightning Strikes.
1 as,s is another name for a donkey
2 or in "slang" it is another way to say butt
The word "asses" means "several donkey-like animals". An ass is a mule, and is a cross between a horse and a donkey and the offspring are sterile. Therefore, when a horse and donkey mate, the resulting baby is one-generation only-- the offspring mule cannot reproduce with an ass, donkey, or mule because the mule is permanently sterile.
What were donkeys used for in World War 1?
In the modern age, where cars and trucks (and airplanes) are ubiquitous and carry practically everything, we tend to forget that this was not always so.
At the start of WW1, the practical Internal Combustion Engine was less than two decades old, and the mass-production of the truck or automobile had just barely begun. Consequently, all the armies on both sides had yet to acquire any significant number of motor vehicles. For the most part, those vehicles which had been purchased were tractors, whose primary use was for towing heavy artillery pieces. So, armies relied on the methods they'd always used to carry their supplies.
As the logistics of any army are a key to its success, huge quantities of ammunition, weapons, food, clothing, and the myriad of other supplies that are required to feed, clothe, and arm soldiers must be transported from the nearest railhead to the fighting front. Donkeys, mules, and horses filled this use, pulling wagons or merely with supplies thrown over their backs. That is, donkeys provided the same service they had to all armies back through antiquity: they were beasts of burden, hauling supplies back and forth behind the lines. Practically everything that the armies needed were hauled by animals for the majority of the war - even when motor vehicles became more available, the horrible ground conditions over much of the battlezones prevented their effective use. So, both sides relied heavily on animals for most of their battlefield logistics needs.
Overall, mules and horses made up the vast majority of animals used - donkeys were less useful, as mules are steadier animals and horses are stronger.
What is the difference between a donkey and a jackass?
An ass, or donkey, is a species all its own that can reproduce. A mule is the sterile offspring of a donkey and a horse. Sterile means that it cannot reproduce, due to horses and donkeys not having the same amount of chromosomes.
Can a female and male mule make a baby mule?
No, male mules are infertile (sterile). Most female mules are also infertile, but about one in a million female mules (and other true hybrids) are fertile. There have been about 40 recorded cases of female mule fertility in the past 100 years, the last few (since the 1980s) verified by DNA. A few years ago a female mule in Morocco gave birth, and also a mare mule in Colorado. The foals were sired by donkeys. There has never been a recorded case of a verified fertile male mule.
The French word for donkey is "âne". A female donkey is "une ânesse" & a donkey foal is "un ânon".
This is a very complicated thing to do.
Here is what you need to do.
1. Gain alot of trust between you and your donkey.
2. Halter train it (Hint: If the donkey is being stubborn and stands in one spot, which they tend to do... then if the donkey can stand there for 15 minutes then you have to stand there for 16 which means be more stubborn than the donkey.)
3. Get a lunging rope and have someone else lunge it while you gently press down on it's back. (Do it every day for a week, or as long as it takes until the donkey is calm while you do it.)
4. Lunge it again, this time with a saddle pad on it... still press on it's back (Again, go as long as it takes until you both feal comfortable.)
5. Lunge it again with both saddle pad and saddle and still do it for as long as it takes.
6. Tie him/her up and put the saddle pad and saddle on it. Then get on it and have her stand there with you on it. Then 2-3 days after repeating that, walk it then slowly do more and more with it.
There you have it =)
Mules cannot belong to a species of their own because they are sterile hybrids, but they do belong to both of the species that horses and donkeys belong to. These species are Equus caballus and Equus asinus.
