Dr. Pepper was formulated in a small town in Virginia known as Rural Retreat, not Waco. The reason why it is named Dr. Pepper is after the last name of the person who created it. He was also a doctor. The first actual one made was in Waco, after the formula had been passed on to be researched and tested. After the first one was made, Dr. Pepper was marketed. All of the credit for the making of the Dr. Pepper went to Waco, leaving Rural Retreat with no credit or acknowledgement.
