What is the Edmonton rock 'n' ride party like?
I'm considering going, but a friend said that she heard that despite a guarenteed alcohol-free, security-patrolled environment, there were still problems with alcohol, drugs, and fighting... Has anyone been to one? : As a parent I was concerned about my daughter going to rock and ride for the first time so I went as a chapparone. The amount of visible security and uniformed police officers reassured me that it was a well supervised event. After I let her go as long as she was with a group of friends I trusted. : Well I couldn't has possibly been more wrong! : While yes there is search and seizure in effect at the doors and there is security patrolling the event this means nothing! These dances are absolutley awash with drugs. For many young teens this is a foot in the door for serious drug abuse! Everyone there has easy access to ecstasy for only a couple of dollars per dose. If they try to resist they can be offered it free of charge. : Pure ecstasy in pill form is very rare. Most e available is cut with much cheaper crystal meth to make it seem more potent and cheaper to produce. It also makes it devastatingly addictive! : What started out as a five dollar pill becomes more expensive as your kid gets hooked. When they cant afford it anymore they are offered a deal in exchange for sexual favors or even worse. : West Edmonton mall is a base for seriously messed up kids to throw their lives away. Galaxyland, the food courts, circuit circus and other places are hangouts for young dropout drug dealers and a wealth of easy marks for robbery and assault. If you do not believe it go on any school day and look at the number of school age kids who are not in school. : If your child wants to go to rock and ride I very strongly suggest you prevent them from goiang at all costs. I never believed my own daughter would so easily fold to peer pressure. Now we are paying the very serious consequences for our mistakes!

Do you have to insure a fifteen year old boy who only has a driver's permit?
To my knowledge, it is not necessary to declare a permit on your auto insurance. You would notify your agent and pay the increased premium once he gets a license. This may vary with state law or even with the particular company. Hopefully, your agent is like mine, and is interested in helping you keep your premiums down, so that you can simply ask without worry.
Are the Edmonton Oilers better than the Calgary flames?
I hate to say this, but as an Oiler fan myself, it all depends on the veiwpoint of who your asking: the Oilers fans or the Flames fans. This past year, both teams really did a good job of losing their games in the pre-playoffs, not to mention the support of their fans. So it depends on what people think.
However, the Oilers were certainly more successful at winning the Stanley Cup 7 times (I think it's 7 times...correct me if I'm wrong...), and the Flames only won the Cup once or twice. So in that context, then certainly the Oilers WERE better than the Flames.
But in the past couple years? That's an altogether different story!!
