The Toronto Blue jays have a good team every year. A well balanced team with pitching, hitting, and fielding. The biggest problem they have is the are in the American League East, and have to deal Red Sox, and Yankees. The Orioles have a good team, and the Rays are a great young team. In another division the Blue Jays would make the play offs more often. I completely agree with you. 100%

The Toronto Maple Leaf hockey franchise began in the newly-formed National Hockey League (NHL) as the Toronto Arenas (1917-1919). It became the Toronto St. Patricks from 1919 to 1926. Conn Smythe purchased the franchise and renamed it the Toronto Maple Leafs, which it has been since 1927.

i don't know who made it, but i know who first wore a goalie mask. well back then, they didn't like to wear masks< but they got injured tons of times. Jaques Plante, a goalie for the Montreal canadaians got hit in the face and was injured. however he needed to continue the game because his back up wasn't there. Jaque practiced with a small wood mask for months but never used it in a game. He had no choice. He wore it, continued to wear it, and it got around the nhl.

The Leafs were founded in November 1917 as a last minute addition to the newly formed NHL. The team was originally just known as "Toronto" although they quickly became known as the "Arenas" after being sponsored by the Toronto Arena Company. The team went under new ownership in 1919 and the name was changed to the St. Patricks, in an effort to appeal to the city's large immigrant Irish community. In 1927, the team was sold again to businessman Conn Smythe who once again renamed the team; this time to the Maple Leafs.
It should be noted that the NHL, the Maple Leafs, and most of their fans consider these changes as simply name changes, meaning that it is the same franchise but just under a different name. This would be no different then when the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim changed their names to the Ducks.
The previous poster, who's answer I have removed, made an incorrect assumption of associating the Toronto Pro H.C. and the Toronto Blueshirts of the NHA to the current franchise. The Blueshirts folded (and arguably made the NHA fold with it) in 1917 and aren't considered part of Maple Leaf franchise history.
